You whispered something to me
Was it just a dream
I'm gonna listen to you close
Coz your goodnight kiss
Felt like a ghost
What are you trying to say to me
Everybody's searching for initmacy
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Everybody's hurting for initmacy
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
We come into this world alone
From the heart of darkness
The infinite unknown
We're only herre a little while
And I feel safe and warm
When I see you smile
Baby don't move away from me
Baby don't pull away
Everybody's searching for initmacy
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Everybody's hurting for initmacy
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Remember when you were a child
And your momma would hold you in her arms
And rock you to sleep
Now darling theres just you and I
Let's give each other everything baby baby...
Everybody's searching for intimacy
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Everybody's hurting for intimacy
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Baby come around and lay down next to me...
The song "Intimacy" by Meja talks about our innate need for connection and closeness with others. The opening lines narrate a scenario where the singer's partner whispers something before falling asleep, and the singer is left wondering if it was just a dream or a significant message. The singer then expresses the desire to listen closely to the partner to decipher the true meaning. The kiss from the partner felt like a ghost and left the singer confused and craving intimacy.
The chorus highlights the fact that everyone is searching for intimacy, and regardless of status or position, people are still hurting and seeking affection. The verse that follows touches on the idea that we all come into the world alone and eventually leave alone. However, we can still make the most of the time we have on earth by finding comfort in the smiles of our loved ones.
The second chorus stresses the previous statement that everyone is searching for intimacy, implying that it is a universal need. In the third verse, the song relates back to childhood, where many of us first experience deep connections like those with our mother, being held in her arms and rocked to sleep. The last line, "Let's give each other everything," is a plea to come together and provide all we can to one another for the ultimate goal of intimacy.
Overall, the song "Intimacy" emphasizes the role that connection and affection have in our lives. It highlights that everyone needs to feel seen, heard, and valued through meaningful and deep relationships.
