Based in New York, Melba Moore first attracted attention in the Broadway production of Hair. Although she has continued her thespian inclinations, winning an award for her performance in the musical Purlie, Moore has also forged a successful singing career. 'This Is It', a minor US hit, reached the UK Top 10 in 1976, and although her pop chart placings have since been inconsistent, Moore remained a fixture on the R&B lists over the following decade. In 2010, Moore collaborated with producer Jimmy D Robinson on several Club/Dance singles. These singles are "Soul Freak", "Stop It", "Night Creatures", "One More Chance", "In The Fire", and "Moonchild." All of the singles have been released on MP3 Download format.

I always thought that this was written by Kashif, but it was someone named Paul Laurence. This definitely sounds like it came directly from Kashif's brain. One of my all-time favorite songs. Everything about this track, from Melba's impeccable voice, to the tight, funky production, is simply perfect. This was the jam at the skating rink, and at Blue Light in the Basement parties in the projects. The instrumental is excellent. The days when the b-sides of the 12" extended mixes, and often 45 rpm singles, as well, had a full instrumental version, and/or some sort of freestyle/dub remix.

@ b +The composer's name is Paul Laurence Jones. I recall Kashif along with Morrie Brown being credited as associate producers of this single.

1980s; not necessarily a happy decade, but much better then now. There might be things about the 21st century and beyond that would never be as reasonable as the 1980s.
