Based in New York, Melba Moore first attracted attention in the Broadway production of Hair. Although she has continued her thespian inclinations, winning an award for her performance in the musical Purlie, Moore has also forged a successful singing career. 'This Is It', a minor US hit, reached the UK Top 10 in 1976, and although her pop chart placings have since been inconsistent, Moore remained a fixture on the R&B lists over the following decade. In 2010, Moore collaborated with producer Jimmy D Robinson on several Club/Dance singles. These singles are "Soul Freak", "Stop It", "Night Creatures", "One More Chance", "In The Fire", and "Moonchild." All of the singles have been released on MP3 Download format.

Love this song and not only was Melba good on this, she also sang some great Northern soul music back in the 60's and that's quite interesting to hear how artists could sing from 60's right into 80's doing various types of soul music. Same with Gene Chandler started out with more doo wop, made some Northern soul and even made disco music

I agree with BabyboyDet. I wanna hear her song "Lean On Me" as well as "The Other Side Of The Rainbow". Now in those two songs, Melba Moore REALLY shows off her talent as wellas her wide vocal range. Both of them brought back to mind the late Minnie Riperton when she did "Loving You". That is how HIGH Melba Moore went in both of those songs.

This song is great. I wonder what part Kashif played in this one. I know Paul Laurence wrote it, but I'm sure Kashif had some part in the production. This whole album jams. "Mind Up Tonight" is brilliant funk too.
