Calambre
Melvin Crema Lyrics

Loco imaginar
sentada en tu verdad,
la sombra de mi amor
espanta tu razon
Que puede ser fatal
te puede aniquilar
sacarte de una vez
lo poco de verdad.

Entonces ya muri

Overall Meaning

Calambre, the song by Melvin Crema, speaks of the haunting pain of lost love and the illusions we create in order to cope with the pain. The opening line "Loco imaginar" is a powerful invitation to the listener to enter a world where imagination replaces reality. It is an acknowledgment that sometimes all we have is our imagination to hold on to when the truth is too painful to bear. The next line "sentada en tu verdad" speaks to the notion of sitting in the truth of the other person's love. It is the act of believing that their love is real, even when they are gone. The following line "la sombra de mi amor" gives voice to the haunting specter of love - the way it lingers in the shadows, following and continuously taunting us. It is the love that remains even when the person we love is no longer there. The next couplet "espanta tu razón, que puede ser fatal" conveys the idea that this love that once sustained us, now threatens to consume us completely. It impairs our judgement, making it impossible to see the truth of our situation. One of the scariest things about unrequited love is the way in which it can warp our perception of reality. In the end, what remains is only "lo poco de verdad," a small shred of the truth. It is in this space of the barest essentials that we are left to figure out how to move forward.
