with Polio at age 3. He spent most of his younger years in a children's hospital in Memphis, Tenn. HThere he leaned to play the guitar and began writing music. From there he wrote one of the most popular songs of a century. "Singing the Blues".
The inspiration this man gives to the world is undescriable. He was bold, strong, and stubborn. He was my dad. I played basketball because he couldn't run. I wanted to as perfect as I could be, because he could only do so much. He never looked for pity and never felt he was any different than anyone else in the world. He was a man who couldn't walk with the strength of an Olympian.
I am so blessed to be his child. I am writing a book about his life. I hope he will be as much an inspiration in your life as he has been in mine.

Just great,I didn't know this version existed,,,,I sure do now.I wonder where I can get a copy !
Castle Of Thoughts
This original version has, "I like the way you wink your eye." Makes much more sense than what Andy sings there, "I like the way you swing your eye..." But the latter does have a groovy sound to it.

Thanks for posting this version by the songwriter himself. I have always liked Andy Williams and Peggy Powers' version. When Melvin sings it, it doesn't have the sexual element that is in the more popular rendition.
Ghost Train
I agree. This isn't sexy at all.

At our nearest record store, they still only stocked 78's in early 1957. I cycled to it to blow my pocket money on a 45 I'd ordered,it wasn't in,but in the front rack was this brand new RCA 45,which I asked to listen to. Two minutes later,my money was spent. Fifty years later, thanks to Bear,I found out that the magnificent steel turnaround and ending was Jimmy Day. Incidently,my pal bought William's version on 78,

Was this on Sun Records by any chance? Take the fiddles out, put it in a lower key, and you have a Johnny Cash song. I'd sooner hear this one than anything by Andy Williams. I should go tell a certain girl I like her kind of love, and have for 13 years as of tomorrow.
