1. An Aust… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least two bands and an artist named Memento:
1. An Australian alternative metal band.
2. A Serbian alternative rock band from Belgrade.
3. An Italian singer and songwriter
Further information:
1) Formed in 2001, Memento was comprised of Australian natives in vocalist/keyboardist Justin Stewart Cotta, guitarist Space, bassist Leighton Kearns, and American drummer Steve Clark.
The band released their debut album Beginnings on February 25, 2003. Two singles were released from the album in "Nothing Sacred" and "Saviour", and a music video for "Coming" was produced as well. Both "Nothing Sacred" and "Saviour" made a moderate impact on the US mainstream rock charts. Memento was also part of the 2003 Ozzfest tour as a rotating second stage act.
Due to personal conflicts amongst the band members, as well as record label issues, the band was dissolved in late 2004. The band's guitarist would then go on to form the contemporary alternative indie duo Digital Daggers with vocalist Andrea Wasse.
3) Born in 2002 in Lombardy, Memento (real name Andrea) grew up listening to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. He enrolled in the musical address, where he began his guitar studies at the age of 11: here his love for music flourishes, which he continues to cultivate over time, from the bedroom to social centers, where he plays for various projects.
The chapter "Memento" opens about two years ago: the song "Non Mi Manchi" testifies to the change taking place. "Non ti conosco" (I don't know you) - track released in June 2020 within the album "HANAMI" - marks the entrance of Memento on the Asian Fake roster. In 2020 his debut EP "Memento Non Ha Paura Del Buio" (Memento Is Not Afraid Of Dark) is released for Asian Fake, containing the single Tu Non Lo Sai (You Don't Know), a collaboration with Rodrigo D’Erasmo. In July 2021 he publishes the Oceano / Vipera project, in which he addresses the theme of loneliness, two tracks produced respectively by Mr. Monkey and Amanda Lean & not for climbing. In May 2022 he released his debut album ACQUADOLCE (Softwater)

Memento Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We tried so hard to pretend you were dead
I walked the earth just to escape you
Now I walk the earth just to touch you again
Come on down, my saviour, my failure
To save myself I betrayed you
These swollen lips whisper only for revenge
To spite myself I betrayed you
If I stop the lies, will I see you in the end?
Swimming through the red
Nothing up ahead
I cannot buy a friend
I just came here to tell you
I miss you
Come on down, my saviour, my failure
My saviour, I failed you
The lyrics to Memento's song "Saviour" are filled with a sense of regret and longing for someone who was once important to the singer but has since been betrayed. The first two lines indicate that the singer and perhaps others have been trying to erase or pretend that this person does not exist. However, the singer cannot shake the memory of this person and continues to walk the earth to find them again. In the next lines, the singer addresses this person as their savior but also acknowledges that they have failed them. The use of the word "failure" suggests that the singer may have been the one who caused harm to the other person, and they are now seeking forgiveness.
However, the singer's inner conflict is revealed in the next lines. The singer has betrayed this person but also wants revenge, causing further turmoil. The line "If I stop the lies, will I see you in the end?" suggests that the singer recognizes that they need to be honest with themselves and this person. Yet, they fear that revealing the truth will result in losing this person forever. The imagery of "swimming through the red" and "nothing up ahead" creates a sense of hopelessness and despair. The last lines indicate that the singer misses this person and perhaps hopes for reconciliation.

I saw them for the first time at Ozzfest and I was right up front. They played an awesome show. The singer jumped down into the crowd and kept going and he gave me his water bottle! Then I met Space later while another band was playing. Wicked chill guy and very nice. I grabbed their album the first second I could. Amazing band!!

I bought tickets to see them at House of Blues Anaheim, but by the time the show rolled around they had broken up and reformed into Nine Times Bodyweight. In fact, I got the impression that they had just come up with the new band name that night...lol. I was happy to hear them (Justin's vocals are amazing regardless of what songs he's singing), but sooo disappointed not to hear Memento that night.
