Early years
Memphis "One Hit Away" Bleek's first mainstream rap vocals appeared on the Clark Kent produced song "Coming of Age", featured on Jay-Z's classic debut LP Reasonable Doubt. Shortly after, Bleek became the first artist signed to Roc-A-Fella Records.
"Coming of Age", ironiclly, was also the title of Memphis' debut LP, which didn't create massive records sales and chart-topping singles as his labelmate and peers' albums had. The same was the case of his second LP, "The Understanding", and third, "M.A.D.E", though the latter spawned his largest amount of sales yet (900,000).
Get Low label and rivalries
In the time between the releases of his second and third albums, Memphis Bleek started his own label, Get Low, which in turn led to the signing of former Junior MAFIA member Lil' Cease. The name of the label has sparked a hip-hop rivalry, or beef, between Memphis Bleek, JT tha Bigga Figga & The Game, the former of which built an independent record label with the same title.
Memphis Bleek was also caught in the middle of the epic Jay-Z and Nas battle, in which Bleek gained a few enemies, most notably Nas and Mobb Deep. Despite boosting Jay-Z and Nas's careers, the beef did little to help Bleek gain any more popularity than he had already attained.
Later years
Remaining one hit away, on May 17, 2005, Bleek released his fourth album titled "534" , in reference to the building he & mentor Jay-Z grew up in, located in the Marcy housing projects of Brooklyn. However, like many of Bleeks previous releases the album suffered in sales, despite decent exposure of the Swizz Beatz produced single 'Like That'.
In fall 2005, Memphis Bleek told MTV that he was recording an album called "The Process", that he would describe as a make or break album, saying "I want to do an album that's through the roof, I want to do a classic album. I feel that if this album I'm not recording is a classic, I'm not even gonna put it out. I have to do it bigger than anybody has ever done it. I have to make a good record this time, not just talking-junk records."The rapper has worked on the album since 2005 and during that time frame he would release the songs "Hustla", "Get Ya Money Off" and "Let It Off". During this time, he would also leave Roc-A-Fella after Jay-Z told him he could run his own company and had the proper distribution deals to do so. He found a new home in 2009 when he signed to Mass Appeal Entertainment which is where he will release his long anticipated album The Process is yet.

It's the Roc in this motherfucker (biatch), oh, yeah
Bounce (uh-uh, yeah), bounce (uh, oh, yeah, uh-huh, yeah)
Bounce (come on), oh (come on), yeah
Bounce (yeah), bounce (come on)
Now do my ladies run this motherfucker? (Yeah, yeah, come on)
Or do my thugs run this motherfucker? (Yeah, yeah, come on)
Do my ladies run it? Fat asses and flat stomachs
Throw a hand in the air if it's the year of the woman
Or my dogs run it? Let 'em know that you still gunnin'
Throw a drink in the air let 'em know you still thuggin'
Yo, I come through, few of my mans, scoop you and your friends
You, you, and you with the Timbs
In tight jeans, Chinese eyes, Indian hair
Black girl ass, let me pour you a glass
Of Belvi, tell me all about your past
Let me console your soul while I palm your ass
And your man did what? He ain't give you?
He cheated with her? I can't diss duke
I tell you this, though, get with this dude
I'll teach you about dough, and show you what this do
It's a secret society, all we ask is trust
But I don't freeze wristses, I just skeeze bitches
Break up happy homes, just seize missus
You'll never get her back, once you get a yap
How you love that?
How you love that?
Do my ladies run this motherfucker? (Yeah, yeah, come on)
Or do my thugs run this motherfucker? (Yeah, yeah, come on)
Do my ladies run it? Fat asses and flat stomachs
Throw a hand in the air if it's the year of the woman
Or my dogs run it? Let 'em know that you still gunnin'
Throw a drink in the air let 'em know you still thuggin'
Ayo, Backwoods rollin', rap, you can't hold 'em
Roc gear matchin', crusin' through Manhattan
Bleek is chillin', Murda is chillin'
What more can I say? We still killin' 'em
Packs, we still dealin' 'em, four wheels, we wheelin' 'em
Chicks like, "I'm feelin' him", yeah, ma, okay
Black jeans and Timberlands give 'em adrenaline rush
Ladies know the difference between them niggas and us
We the R-O-C and we don't stop
They don't make a gun that we don't pop
Matter fact, they don't make a car that we don't drop
Thought you knew, they don't make jewels that we don't cop
What, you new? You actin' like the Roc ain't hot
Or the car that I cop ain't missin' a top
And even if they don't make drops that kind
I tear the roof off like I'm Busta Rhymes, motherfucker
Do my ladies run this motherfucker? (Yeah, yeah, come on)
Or do my thugs run this motherfucker? (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
Do my ladies run it? Fat asses and flat stomachs
Throw a hand in the air if it's the year of the woman
Or my dogs run it? Let 'em know that you still gunnin'
Throw a drink in the air let 'em know you still thuggin'
Do my ladies run this motherfucker? (Uh-huh, uh-huh, okay)
Or do my thugs run this motherfucker? (Uh-huh, okay, uh-huh)
It's the R-O-C, we don't stop
It's the R-O-C, we don't stop
R-O-C, we don't stop
Uh, Memph' Bleek, The Understanding, niggas
Get your mind right, haha, haha (woo)
The song "Do My" by Memphis Bleek features catchy, repetitive lyrics and an upbeat tempo that make for a good party anthem. The lyrics explore the question of who runs the party - is it the women with their "fat asses and flat stomachs" or the thugs with their guns and violent tendencies? The song seems to suggest that both parties have their place, but ultimately it's the Roc, or the record label that Memphis Bleek is signed to, that truly runs the show. This is evidenced by references to the label throughout the song and the final lines that declare "It's the R-O-C, we don't stop".
The middle section of the song features Memphis Bleek describing his encounter with a group of women, highlighting their physical attributes and offering to "console their soul" while also "palm[ing] their ass". He also makes references to being part of "a secret society" and using money and power to control people. While some might view these lyrics as objectifying or promoting toxic masculinity, others might argue that they are simply part of the larger party and power dynamic explored throughout the song.
Overall, "Do My" is a fun, high-energy song that could be interpreted in a number of different ways depending on the listener's perspective.
