They have a repertoire of 12 songs appoximately, one of them a version of Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby"; tracks were recorded at the home studio of one member of Mendetz. They played live a few times in Barcelona, at Sala Mono, the KGB, Sala Spay9,La Báscula,etc.. and they have been the best Demo of 2005, according to Mondosonoro magazine.
In their lyrics the talk abot future sex, to dignify lost actors from de 80's,to remember ironically Chimo Bayo and comment the absence in identity of the XII century no-subjects plunged in grey,in fashion,in the fake communication. Mendetz keep trusting in old robots, in honest Casios, to keep the legacy of the feelings and human.
Mendetz evoke, to rhythm of broken keys of casio, a past redressed in an unavoidable future, never sweeping to frantic rhythms the memories of a lived yesterday.
Their sound and themes are very reminiscent of Duran Duran.

Even if your doubts always shut me out of your life
Even if the rain took away all the secret signs
We were the crusaders of this invisible night
When the sun is fading out
You gotta make it happen
Where the lights are going down,
Even if I tried to remember the broken times
Even if you tried to remove the traces of the past
Taking in, taking out,
You ask me: "Isn't that all what life is about?"
We gotta be again the crusaders of this invisible night
When the sun is fading out
You gotta make it happen
Where the lights are going down,
into the Phantotheque
When the sun is fading out
You gotta make it happen
Where the lights are going down,
into the Phantotheque
Even if I tried to pretend you were not on my mind
Even if your doubts always shut me out of your life
Even if the rain took away all the secret signs...
We're all insane, we're all to blame, we're all alone,
we'll try again to move into the Phantotheque.
When the sun is fading out
You gotta make it happen
Where the lights are going down,
into the Phantotheque
When the sun is fading out
You gotta make it happen
Where the lights are going down,
into the Phantotheque
into the Phantotheque
into the Phantotheque
into the Phantotheque
into the Phantotheque...
Mendetz's song "Phantotheque" is a song about rekindling a past love despite their doubts and the difficulties that come with it. The lyrics speak to trying to forget about the other person and move on, but ultimately failing to do so. The "Phantotheque" is portrayed as a place where one can escape reality and find love and connection with others, even if just for one night. The repeated line "When the sun is fading out, you gotta make it happen; where the lights are going down, into the Phantotheque" emphasizes the urgency of seizing the moment and going after what you want, despite the possible consequences.
The song uses poetic language and imagery to convey its message. The references to "crusaders" and an "invisible night" evoke the idea of a quest for something that is not easily attainable, and the idea of a night full of secrets and possibilities. The repetition of the phrase "Even if" creates a sense of resignation and acceptance of the challenges of the situation, but also a determination to try again.
Overall, "Phantotheque" is a song about the complexities of love and the human experience. It is a reminder to take risks and go after what we want, even if it means facing our fears and doubts.
