And You Know This
Mental Lyrics

Someone that will be there when you're losin your mind
Fake friends and the smiles they wear
They act like they do but they don't fucking care
I don't know how
You can shake my hand
How can you be my brother?
I don't think you know the fucking meaning of friend
When I'm down you've three hands to lend
There for the good, there for the bad
The one thing that keeps me from goin' mad
Sometimes I just need somebody to talk to
Someone that I trust, that's when you say "Yo! I got you!"
Sometimes I wanna give up, cause life can get bogus
That's why I got friends and you fucking know this
I don't have to explain, you know the the fucking deal
You're like a fucking brother, won't lie, cheat, or steal
To those who go behind my back, and sneak around
I'll turn that smile into a fuckin' frown
Why is it so hard to say how you feel
My true brothers know how to be real
In "And You Know This," Mental reflects on the importance of genuine friendships and the negative effects of false ones. Mental highlights the difficulties of finding true friends, but acknowledges that they are essential in times of emotional turmoil. The lyrics convey that true friends are always there to lend a hand, whether it's during the good times or when things get tough. Mental is wary of fake friends and their deceptive behavior, suggesting that their smiles are nothing but a facade.
Mental's frustration is palpable in the second verse, particularly when he calls out his so-called brother for being less than a man. He then accuses this same person of not knowing the true meaning of friendship, and not being there for him when he needed them. Mental speaks about the importance of having someone trustworthy to talk to in times of stress, and highlights how having true friends is the one thing that can keep him from losing his mind.
Overall, "And You Know This" is an anthem in support of true friendship and the pitfalls of disingenuous ones. The lyrics emphasize the importance of honesty, trust, and loyalty in any meaningful relationship, and celebrate the value of true friendship in a world where it is often difficult to come by.
