Mentallo and the Fixer soon after began their long-term relationship with the American industrial music record label Metropolis Records with their second release Revelations 23. This release solidified the band's sound, which included "snarling distorted vocals, hard cutting sequencer rhythms, and a thunderous beat". However, Mentallo and the Fixer changed directions with their following release, Where Angels Fear to Tread, an album which was more heavily influenced by gothic music.
At this time, in 1994, the Dassing brothers formed a side project with vocalist Michael Greene called Mainesthai. Mainesthai's two releases, Out to Lunch and Mentallo and the Fixer Meets Mainesthai were also both released on Metropolis Records, but not until 1998. The Dassings still recorded as Mentallo and the Fixer, releasing their next album Burnt Beyond Recognition in 1997, along with two singles: "Centuries" and "False Prophets".
After the departure of Dwayne Dassing from the band in 1999, Gary continued to use the Mentallo and the Fixer name, and released several albums including Algorythum, Love is the Law, Return to Grimpen Ward, and Vengeance is Mine, along with the single "Systematik Ruin" to accompany Alogrythum. Gary Dassing has returned once again after a five-year silence with the newest Mentallo and the Fixer release, Enlightenment through a Chemical Catalyst. Mentallo and the Fixer formed in Austin, Texas USA in 1988.

Mentallo & The Fixer Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
How can we stray just think - think of tomorrow's children will
To see a day when we decided to throw all of our differences out of the way
There's just extreme hatred for the ways of man lust greed pain
It's so ashamed not to really care
Is it really worth bringing one more life here when no one dares
To think clear just to think about their tomorrows
No one cares no one dares to hear that day draws near this is what I fear
It might be too late that's the way it seems what does this mean
When tears fall like rain it leads me to believe there is suffering
Never to achieve dreams their future to bleak & empty.
The song "Virtually Hopeless" by Mentallo & the Fixer is an instrumental song that is enriched with the song's liner notes that showcase lyrics that reflect a deep sense of pessimism regarding the future of humanity. The lyrics express that humanity has lost its way and there is a lack of empathy and concern for future generations. The lyrics highlight how mankind is driven by extreme greed and selfishness, resulting in a loss of hope for a better tomorrow. The future generation is left at the mercy of humans who have failed to put their differences aside and work towards a common goal.
The lyrics further suggest that the current state of affairs is a result of the apathy shown towards the environment, each other, and future prospects. The phrase “lost in twilight sorrow” implies that the future is dark and shadowy, and the word "virtually" in the title suggests that hopelessness has become pervasive and almost ubiquitous.
Overall, the song's lyrics suggest that humanity needs to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions and work towards building a better future for the upcoming generations to help pave the way to hopefulness.
