In 2001 Merche were in the Spanish pre-selection for Eurovision Song Contest with the song "No Pidas Mas Amor" under the name Luna. She finished in 6th place, but signed with Vale Music and start to record her first album Mi Sueño. From spring 2002 to the end of summer, the single "No Pidas Mas Amor" was a national hit in Spain, with TV appearances supporting the single and album, and was also the title track of the Spanish version of Big Brother.
"Como Pude" was released as second single, but sales were not as high as expected. In fall 2002 the third single, "Le Deseo" was released, and the album became a hit, up to #12 some weeks, and certificated gold, and a months later, platinum.
In the summer of 2003 the fourth single was released, "Mi Sueño", also with supporting appearances in TV.
In 2002 and 2003, Merche toured with her first album, in the Mi Sueño Tour, where she sang all songs from the album and two covers of other artists, Alaska's "A Quien Le Importa" and Ray Heredia's "Alegria de Vivir".

In Merche's song "Dónde Están Los Hombres" or "Where are the men," she talks about her frustration with trying to find a man. She starts off by asking who's out there but feels like she can't find anyone. She wonders if they're hiding, asking where they are. Merche suggests that if you're looking for a man, you have to be selective and not just settle for anyone. She believes that some men can be scary once you really get to know them more.
She advises that going out with the sole purpose of finding someone isn't the best idea. If it's meant to be, it will happen naturally. Merche even suggests that maybe being in a relationship isn't worth it and that being single might be better. She questions if it's her or them who are the problem but concludes by hoping that she can eventually find a man to be with. Overall, this song centers around the frustration of trying to find a romantic partner and the difficulties that come with it.

Merche tiene discos mejores no se que le ha pasado en éste. En el disco resalta con claridad el tema "Es difícil" pero los demás dejan que desear un poco y no están a la altura de esta pedazo de cantautora. Estoy seguro que no tardaremos más de un año en tener nuevo trabajo de Merche y posiblemente con una nueva discográfica.
