Call to Worship
MercyMe Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I will worship the one who tells the sun to shine
I will worship You
I will worship You
My hands I lift to You
My voice I lift to You
My heart I lift to You
I will worship the one who calmed the raging sea
I will worship the one who hushed the rage in me
I will worship You
I will worship You
My hands I lift to You
My voice I lift to You
My heart I lift to You
Hallelujah
Prince of Peace, almighty God
Counselor, Holy One
Lion of Judah, Son of Man
Son of God, the great I Am
Resurrection and the life
King of kings, Jesus Christ
My hands I lift to You
My voice I lift to You
My heart I lift to You
Hallelujah
My hands I lift to You
My voice I lift to You
My heart I lift to You
Hallelujah
The lyrics of MercyMe's song "Call to Worship" express a deep desire to worship and praise God for all the astonishing things He has done. The first verse evokes images of God's mighty power over nature - throwing stars into the night sky and commanding the sun to shine. The singer declares their intent to worship Him for His greatness and majesty. In the second verse, the focus shifts to God's ability to bring peace and calm to the world and even within our own hearts. The singer similarly declares their intent to worship Him for this amazing ability.
The final part of the song is a beautiful and powerful description of Jesus and His many titles and roles, and again the singer declares their intent to worship Him. The phrase "My hands I lift to You, My voice I lift to You, My heart I lift to You, Hallelujah" is repeated throughout the song and reinforces the message of worship and praise to God. The lyrics of this song remind us of the awesomeness of God and inspire a desire to worship Him.

I heard this for the first time yesterday and didnโt know the artist. This sounds so much like a band I listened to many years ago called โIncubusโ. Even the vocals remind me of Brandon Boyd. Of course this song is so much better - worshipping Jesus!
