Take The Time

Tell yourself there’s nothing here to see
Try so hard to look the other way
As if you haven’t noticed anything
Do it to the least of these
Do it to me
You gotta take the time
Shallow is the voice of no concern
Running through the bridges that we’ve burned
You can’t even feel your own demise
So how can you pretend to lead the blind
Do it to the least of these
Do it to me
You gotta take the time
You gotta take the time
I’m the hungry and the weak
Can you even see me
I’m the stranger all alone
Won’t you welcome me home
I’m the naked and ashamed
Won’t you look my way
You gotta take the time
You gotta take the time
You gotta take, take, take
Take the time
You gotta take, take, take
Take the time
You gotta take, take, take
Take the time
You gotta take, take, take
Take the time
You gotta take, take, take
Take the time
You gotta take, take, take
Take the time
You gotta take, take, take
Take the time
Take the time
The first verse of MercyMe's song "Take The Time" talks about the negative actions or deeds that people do when they don't want to help others. It speaks of how some people try to avoid compassion or ignore the cries of others. The line "As if you haven't noticed anything" implies the deliberate act of ignoring what one has seen or heard. The chorus of the song highlights the message that Jesus Christ taught – that what we do to the least of humanity, we do to Him.
The second verse of the song talks about the heartlessness of the person with no concern. The lyric "Running through the bridges that we’ve burned" portrays individuals who have either intentionally or unknowingly broken trusts and severed ties with others. They no longer feel the impact of their actions on their own selves. This makes it impossible for them to lead others who may be looking to them for guidance. Again, the chorus reiterates the fact that we should treat others with love and kindness the way we would want to receive it.
The third verse of the song is a portrayal of the needy people in society. It describes people who are hungry, weak, homeless or isolated, and they seek help from others. The message here is that such people are in need of help, and anyone who sees them should extend a helping hand. The phrase "welcome me home" implies that such people might feel like strangers in society, and they need to be shown love and attention. In conclusion, the song messages are clear: Jesus Christ taught us to love and serve others, and that is the message of the song – to help those who need it.
