Let the redeemed celebrate
If you know what I know
You can't wipe the smile off your face
Oh people, stand up and praise
[Chorus:]
There's a reason to dance
Of the sacred romance
With our Savior and King
We lift up our hands
We fall on our knees
To the Son of Man
The reason we are free
There's a reason
All glory to
The King of Kings, Lord if Lords
Oh the value of Your worth
No worldly treasures can afford
And we praise You forevermore
[Chorus:]
There's a reason to stand
There's a reason to shout, to shout Your name on high
So we take up our cross, there's a reason to die
Because Jesus is alive
There's a reason
[Chorus:]
There's a reason
You are the reason
The reason we are free
The lyrics of MercyMe's song "There" depict a moment of collective celebration and gratitude among the redeemed. The song starts with an invitation to join the celebration because there is a reason to rejoice. The singer encourages the listeners to stand up and praise because they know what he knows, which is likely referring to the redemptive power of their faith. The chorus repeats the phrase "there's a reason" to emphasize the joyous and profound significance of their relationship with God. The reason to dance, to sing, to lift up hands, and to fall on their knees is the sacred romance with their savior and king.
The second verse highlights the worth and glory of Jesus, who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The song acknowledges that worldly treasures cannot compare to the value of Jesus, and therefore, they praise him forevermore. The final verse urges the listeners to take up their cross and follow Jesus because he is alive, and there is a reason to stand and shout his name on high.
Overall, the lyrics of "There" celebrate the freedom and joy that come with a deep faith in Jesus Christ. The song encourages believers to celebrate and praise God for the redemptive power of their faith, which enables them to live fully and joyfully.
