Mercy Drive Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Cause lies are what you're made of
Amuse me-To think that I can’t see through what you've become
I will promise you
Time will remember and time will find you
And time will turn around everything you've done
You will bend in the end
So now the problem here
Is me or so you say
Distractions-Your way to avoid
The blame that you won’t take
And I will make you a promise
I will promise you
Time will remember and time will find you
And time will turn around everything you've done
You will bend in the end
Time will remember and time will find you
And time will turn around everything you've done
You will bend in the end
Time will remember and time will find you
And time will turn around everything you've done
You will burn out in the end
The lyrics of Mercy Drive's song "Promise" seem to address someone who has been dishonest and unreliable. The singer seems to feel betrayed, suggesting that "Another lie" has been told to them. The lines "Cause lies are what you're made of" and "To think that I can't see through what you've become" indicate that this person has a history of deception and that the singer is fully aware of it.
However, the focus of the song is not just on the past, but also on the future. The repeated phrase "I will promise you" suggests that the singer is now making a promise to the other person, but it's not entirely clear what this promise entails. It's possible that the singer is promising to remember everything that has happened, and that time will eventually catch up to the person who has been lying. This is supported by the lines "Time will remember and time will find you / And time will turn around everything you've done." The tone of the song is somewhat ominous, suggesting that the person who has been lying will eventually face consequences: "You will bend in the end" and "You will burn out in the end."
Overall, the lyrics of "Promise" suggest that the singer has had enough of someone's dishonesty and is threatening to expose them. While the promise that is made is somewhat vague, the repeated use of the phrase "I will promise you" suggests that the singer is serious about the consequences the other person will face.

Hey Alison, this album was really only available for a very limited time and was in limited supply as well, but it was being sold on the band's official website, which is now down and no longer active. I uploaded all the songs though to YouTube, and the links are in the description box if you want to download them.
