Let Go
Meridian Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
An axiom of denial.
Let go of it, don't bottle it up,
Don't preach to me you closet psychopath.
Let go of the anger.
The lies, we are told.
Juxtaposed against our own - nature.
Hush little baby don't say a word
mothers gonna smother your fear
and strip away, your humanity.
Because the terror, is a lie, we fool, ourselves.
Let go, just let go,
An axiom of denial.
Let go of it, don't bottle it up,
don't preach to me you closet psychopath.
Let go of the anger.
The lies, we are told.
Juxtaposed against our own nature.
The lyrics to Meridian's song "Let Go" seem to be a commentary on the human tendency to repress negative emotions and deny uncomfortable truths. The refrain "let go, just let go" is repeated throughout the song as an appeal to the listener to release their pent-up anger and frustration. The line "an axiom of denial" suggests that the urge to let go is not necessarily natural or easy, but rather something that we have to consciously choose to do.
The second verse adds some nuance to this theme, contrasting "the lies we are told" with "our own nature." This could be interpreted as a critique of society or culture, which often promotes false or harmful ideas about how we should live our lives. The line "juxtaposed against our own nature" implies that there is a natural, instinctual impulse inside us that is being suppressed or ignored.
The bridge of the song introduces a new element, with the image of a mother smothering her baby's fear. This could be seen as a metaphor for the way we are conditioned from a young age to suppress our emotions and conform to societal norms. The final line "because the terror is a lie we fool ourselves" suggests that our fears and anxieties are often not based in reality, but are instead created or perpetuated by our own minds.
Overall, the lyrics to "Let Go" encourage the listener to break free from the constraints of society and embrace their true nature, but also acknowledge the difficulty of doing so and the ways in which we are conditioned to suppress our instincts.

Just how Melodic Death Metal should sound like. Although they are from AU, the sound remains predominantly Scandinavian. Much respect.
