Their style of music is that of the traditional power metal sound which was pioneered by bands such as Helloween and Blind Guardian. They split up in 2011 after 8 studio albums and 2 DVD releases.

Their first album - Millennium Metal - went in the Charts and became "Europeans most successful Metal-Debut in 1999".

Metalium covered a number of songs from bands like Kansas, Queen, Accept, Deep Purple, etc.

Singer Henning Basse performed vocals for Firewind on two seperate tours in 2007 and filled in for Kai Hansen for two dates with Gamma Ray in January 2008.

No, Rick uses mixed voice and falsetto screams. While Henning is a full octave singer. His passages are waaay superior then anything ive heard by Rick Mythiasin. For the instruments tho i agree that the Steel Prophet version is more polished.

Ralf might be much better as a vocalist, but that doesn't mean he's the best choice for every single band. Add to the fact that no one for obvious reasons even sounds like Kai (Ok, maybe the vocalist from Stormwarrior is the exception).

Technically, he might not be the best vocalist ever. Of course he's not. He never studied singing. This does not mean, however, that he can't and doesn't fulfill the role of bringing to Gamma Ray lovers the sound they want. Music is all about ambience, and Kai delivers just what Gamma Ray is all about. A rough voice which accompanies the instruments and sets a very specific environment.

An octave is simply 12 notes. Thus both Rick and Henning are that. (I am a trained Spinto Soprano btw), Hennings high notes (which are falsetto) are barely in Rick's midrange. I can could list all the time marks at which Henning using falsetto. Henning does have decent vibrato but he's not in league with Rick by any means. Next you'll tell me he's Midnight reborn or some shit haha.

And yea its „its „falsetto“..its actually not pure falsetto its a mixed voice there.. i could skip in other songs to nature chest or whatever you want. Lol range is not about our quality of singing there‘s so much more to „judge“ if the singer is „good“ or simoly speaking for you: not your taste girl. And btw. Who da fuck is rick? … well we had fun doing that cover over 20 years ago and STILL people digging it.there‘s no need to compare this or judging stuff in a weird way and pretending you‘re specialist for voices.

yet this is slower than the steel prophet version lol Rick is a far better vocalist with greater command and range, and the dual guitars in Steel Prophet are way more polished. Not sure this is worthy of any praise outside of solid drumming.

Kai isn't a melodic singer. I know all you ignorant pricks want kiske but he's not into metal anymore :P. And Kai is a badass thrash/speed metal singer and that's wat makes gamma ray so unique. It's a blend of power/speed/thrash mixed into one big....ray...,tee hee

The thing is,Henning has a more manly voice, a raspier approach to harmonies. Rick is too whiney sometimes!Whiney in terms..John Arch whiney :P Midnight reborn? Nah,Rick has more similarity to Midnight then Henning. PS. Midnight was never spectacular live ;D La Torre outperforms him live on every single song that ive heard :p But you do sound as a Rick fanboy(girl) ,cus ur defending him so much. @sasman888 Eh, Kai's OK, but that not great (at singing anyway, he's pretty much the god of power metal guitar). I liked Ralf Scheepers' singing better (and the guy singing this cover reminds me of Ralf, which is a Good Thing). But what the hell is with the production? The performance is good but the sound quality sucks, especially the bass drum. It's supposed to be a BASS drum, not a clicking noise.
