Hey, hey, hey
Here I go now
Here I go into new days
Hey, hey, hey
Here I go now
Here I go into new days
I'm pain, I'm hope, I'm suffer
Yeah, hey, hey, hey, yeah, yeah
Here I go into new days

Hey, hey, hey
Ain't no mercy
Ain't no mercy there for me
Hey, hey, hey
Ain't no mercy
Ain't no mercy there for me
I'm pain, I'm hope, I'm suffer
Yeah, yeah, hey, hey no mercy
Ain't no mercy there for me

Do you bury me when I'm gone
Do you teach me while I'm here
Just as soon as I belong
Then it's time I disappear
Ha!

Hey, hey, hey
And I went
And I went on down that road
Hey, hey, hey
And I went on
And I went on down that road
I'm pain, I'm hope, I'm suffer
Hey, hey, hey, yeah, and I went on
And I went on down that road

Do you bury me when I'm gone
Do you teach me while I'm here
Just as soon as I belong
Then it's time I disappear

Do you bury me when I'm gone
Do you teach me while I'm here
Just as soon as I belong
Then it's time I disappear
Disappear, huh!

I'm gone, I'm gone
I'm gone
Oh yeah, I'm gone
I'm gone
I'm gone baby
I'm gone, I'm gone

Do you bury me when I'm gone
Do you teach me while I'm here
Just as soon as I belong
Then it's time I disappear

Do you bury me when I'm gone
Do you teach me while I'm here
Just as soon as I belong

Then it's time I disappear
Disappear.

Overall Meaning

The song "I Disappear" by Metallica could be interpreted as reflecting on the impermanence of life and the inevitability of death. The lyrics repeat the phrases "here I go into new days" and "then it's time I disappear," which suggest the idea of moving forward into the unknown and ultimate disappearance from the world. The lines "I'm pain, I'm hope, I'm suffer" further emphasize the struggles of living and the duality of human experience.

The chorus, which goes "do you bury me when I'm gone, do you teach me while I'm here, just as soon as I belong, then it's time I disappear," questions the purpose of life and what happens after death. The images of being buried and being taught while alive suggest the contrasting ideas of being "put to rest" and being active participants in life. The song seems to suggest that life is fleeting and temporary, and that one should make the most of it while they can.

This song represents the most difficult time in the bands history. Napster, Jason leaving, James going to rehab and the band almost falling apart. The lyrics and the music video are very symbolic in that regard. Huge fan of the song and it's a taste of what the initially planned 2000 record would have sounded like with Jason in the band.

Sounds pretty good m8

@findantu

I'd pay all the money if they just would get high as fuck and make a real album they suck since they cleaned up and Jason left cause they are all greedy as fuck he just got outscrewed.

@jeebus5833

Meh, some of that's true. I'd take Cliff or Roberto any day over Jason. And it believe Cliff dieing was the hardest.

@adamtorres5010

Tbh I like Jason's part in this video. The others have action parts, whereas Jason is moving in the opposite direction of a crowd, symbolizing social defiance - which is probably the only struggle depicted in the video most of us has actually faced.

@adrianlongmate4485

And the struggle he had in the band

@gm2407

Jason always got stuff like this in the videos. He was litterly shirt off rolling in mud on one of the Load videos.

@mir4196

So true.. Must be strong to face all that people
