Metallica first found commercial success with the release of its third album, Master of Puppets (1986), which is cited as one of the heaviest metal albums and the band's best work. The band's next album, ...And Justice for All (1988), gave Metallica its first Grammy Award nomination. Its self-titled fifth album, Metallica (1991), was the band's first not to root predominantly in thrash metal; it appealed to a more mainstream audience, achieving substantial commercial success and selling over 16 million copies in the United States to date, making it the best-selling album of the SoundScan era. After experimenting with different genres and directions in subsequent releases, Metallica returned to its thrash metal roots with the release of its ninth album, Death Magnetic (2008), which drew similar praise to that of the band's earlier albums. This was followed by the band's 10th studio album, Hardwired... to Self-Destruct (2016), with its 11th album, 72 Seasons, releasing in 2023.
In 2000, Metallica led the case against the peer-to-peer file sharing service Napster, in which the band and several other artists filed lawsuits against the service for sharing their copyright-protected material without consent, eventually reaching a settlement. Metallica was the subject of the acclaimed 2004 documentary film Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, which documented the troubled production of the band's eighth album, St. Anger (2003), and the internal struggles within the band at the time. In 2009, Metallica was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band co-wrote the screenplay for and starred alongside Dane DeHaan in the 2013 concert film Metallica: Through the Never, in which the band performed live against a fictional thriller storyline.
Metallica has released 10 studio albums, four live albums (including two performances with the San Francisco Symphony), 12 video albums, a cover album, two extended plays, 37 singles and 39 music videos. The band has won nine Grammy Awards from 23 nominations, and its last six studio albums (beginning with Metallica) have consecutively debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Metallica ranks as one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, having sold over 125 million albums worldwide as of 2018. Metallica has been listed as one of the greatest artists of all time by magazines such as Rolling Stone, which ranked the band No. 61 on its 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list. As of 2017, Metallica is the third-best-selling music artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991, selling a total of 58 million albums in the United States.

Metallica Lyrics

Come on let's go fuck you up
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Or if he moves will he fall?
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We'll just pass him there
Why should we even care?
Come on you fuckers
God bless you all
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
Where he traveled time
For the future of mankind
Nobody wants him
They just turn their head
Nobody helps him
Now he waits in regret
I wanna hear everybody now, come on
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Now the time is here
For Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved
Nobody wants him
They just turn their head
Nobody helps him
So he waits in regret
Alright let's see a fucking wild call
Come on
Come on
Go fucking crazy
The song Iron Man by Metallica Ozzy Osbourne is a powerful and intense piece that tells the story of a man who has been turned to steel after traveling through a great magnetic field to secure the future of mankind. The opening lines "I am Iron Man, come on let's go fuck you up" establishes a tone of aggression and sets the stage for the raw energy that permeates the entire song.
The lyrics question the singer's state of mind and physical abilities, wondering if he is alive or dead, if he can see or if he is blind, and if he can even walk without falling. It's evident that the singer has been isolated and ostracized by society due to his transformation, with nobody wanting to help or even care about his fate.
The chorus has a commanding presence that further emphasizes the power held by the once-human-turned-steel man. The lyrics suggest that the time has come for Iron Man to seek revenge and spread fear among those who have turned their backs on him. The song serves as an ode to those who have been rejected and mistreated by society, showcasing the potential for unbridled power and fury that lies beneath the surface of those who are wrongly perceived as weak.

And what a great recovery on the part of James. He clearly broke a string or something, and it's hardly even noticeable. Kirk, Lars, and Robert keep on playing like nothing happened, and James didn't even flinch with his singing. What a talented band.

@stevechambers500 You will still get a sound from EMGs with a dead battery but it's going to be really fuzzy and ugly like playing with the tone knob turned all the way down (maybe even in the negative). His sound died instantly so I'm betting it's more on the wiring of the pickups. Also, I would think that if you're a roadie for Metallica, the band that basically made EMG pickups the gold standard for legions of metalheads, battery management for active pickups should be a no-brainer. But yeah either way this is on the roadie for not checking the equipment properly.
