It is played while Tuco (Eli Wallach) is frantically searching a graveyard for the grave that holds $200,000 in gold coins. Metallica has used "The Ecstasy of Gold" as the introductory music for its concerts since 1984; it is included on the live symphonic album S&M. A instrumental metal cover by Metallica (with minimal vocals by lead singer James Hetfield) appears on the 2007 Morricone tribute album We All Love Ennio Morricone. This rock version was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Rock Instrumental Performance. It was also used in the trailer for and appears in Guitar Hero: Metallica, in its original form as composed by Morricone.

To everyone saying the original is better....read again. This is a 'tribute'. A tribute. A way of showing respect and admiration for the original. Not a competition

To everyone saying that this is a tribute. And fucking what? Say Food Fight is a tribute, NAH CAN'T JUDGE THAT, NO WAY! IT'S A TRIBUTE!
@andrewe6762
A tribute implies the original is better... A tribute band knows they aren't better than the original. A tribute song isn't better than the original either.
@-nuclearwaste3593
IDK, I actually think the original is better.
