I watched it yesterday and it was a very well put together film. Great cast, decent action, but a big standout to me was Xolo performance as Jaime Reyes. The family dynamic was very strong and there are at least four family scenes that made me cry and think of my own family growing up. It’s a very relatable enjoyable film. A lot is in Spanish which I liked. This lil girl sitting next to me was reading the subtitles out loud 😂😭😭 cute. Story was decent for an entry level film. Susan Sarandon did her thing per usual. I liked it more than the flash. I’m happy he is a part of the DCU going forward. Despite what’s going on with Hollywood and the strike I think it’s important to not get lost in the sauce. We need to take our families to see this and enjoy this film and support the DCU and the many hardworking writers producers and visual artists that worked on this project. They deserve it. Enjoy this weekend.

I remember meeting Xolo back at a Comicon event in Knoxville, TN years ago - around the time where Cobra Kai was still pretty new and got to talk to him for a bit at his booth next to Zabka's. Blue Beetle was originally a property of Charlton comics along with Peace Maker, The Question, and Captain Atom before becoming a DC property. the CGI looks shxtty. the suit looks like a low rendered injustice 2 skin. the tone reminds me of spiderman homecoming and venom, so it could either be pretty good, or venom... it's hard to tell whether they'll nail the highschool stuff and the characters. if they do that's probably what's most important. I like the family dynamic they're going with, I like the actor playing jaime, but idk if this is the movie blue beetle/ young justice fans have been waiting for. guess we'll see

thing is, it looks promising enough that even if this movie is kinda mid, it could lay the groundwork for an even better sequel, if this movie does a good job at building an identity for the character/ tone/ universe. it's cool to think we could even get a young justice movie in the future, and it might actually be good if james gunn pulls through

There's something nice about Xolo Maridueña being cast as Reyes. For me, I guess it's because I've watched Cobra Kai a lot, where his character of Miguel Diaz goes through a very big story arc, from surviving a coma and paralysis to finding his criminal father. Also, it's a nice touch that Reyes is a fan of Final Fantasy VII, seeing his dream of wielding Cloud's Buster Sword being fulfilled.

I found it amusing that Blue Beetles' initial transition resembled a scene from a horror film. I also enjoyed how, later in the video, Blue Beetle's family helps him battle crime even though they are aware of his true identity. Nowadays, you hardly ever see that in superheroes. Hope Blue Beetles makes history from any other modern DC movies.
