Michael Bublé’s introduction to the music of the swing era came to him through his grandfather, who filled his grandson’s ears with the sounds of The Mills Brothers, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and others. As Bublé eagerly absorbed the recordings, he began to realize that he wanted to be a singer and that this style of music, virtually foreign to his own generation, was what he wanted to perform.
With his grandfather’s assistance, Bublé soon learned a whole catalog of tunes and gained experience and exposure by singing as a guest with several local bands. While still in his teen years, he won the Canadian Youth Talent Search, released several independent albums, and performed in a musical review titled Swing that traveled across the U.S. It wasn’t long before Bublé was introduced to Grammy-winning producer David Foster during a famous Canadian wedding of Brian Mulroney’s daughter Caroline Mulroney. He later signed his first major recording contract with Reprise Records after that encounter.
The two Canadians began work on a debut album that would incorporate Bublé’s aptitude for pop standards into songs that spanned several decades. His self-titled debut disc was released in early 2003, and featured jazzy takes on old standards like “Fever” and “The Way You Look Tonight” as well as newer classics like “Moondance” and “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart”.
He finished off 2003 with an EP of holiday material, Let It Snow, and began 2004 with the live CD/DVD set Come Fly With Me. In 2005, It’s Time was a number one hit in Canada, Japan, Italy, and Australia, and made the top ten of both the UK and US. Later that year he released the live album Caught in the Act. More recently, Michael received a 2010 Grammy Award for 'Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album' for 'Michael Bublé Meets Madison Square Garden.

I miss seeing that smile
It's been such a long time
And although I don't have you
I know now that I need to
Somehow make you mine
And I won't lie, it's hard seeing you with him
'Cause I know he can't hold you like I can
Someday maybe when we're old and gray
We could be in love once more
Till then I won't give my love away
Darling, I'm forever only yours
Oh, I remember that love song
I sang every word wrong
But you didn't mind, no no
And I'll admit that I miss you
But only if you do
'Cause you know that I'm shy
And I can't lie, it's hard seeing you with her
'Cause I know she can't love you like I can
Someday maybe when we're old and gray
We could be in love once more
Till then I won't give my love away
Darling, I'm forever only yours (hmm yeah)
And my lovin' works for you then (it works for you)
We've got nothing to lose
'Cause I'm forever only yours (in love once more, once more, once more)
No need to complicate it
That smile is worth the wait, yeah
I'm forever only yours (hey, yeah)
Someday maybe
Someday maybe
Someday maybe
I'll be yours (woah, baby)
Someday maybe (someday maybe)
Someday maybe (someday maybe)
Someday maybe (someday maybe)
I'll be yours (someday maybe I'll be yours)
Someday maybe when we're old and gray
We could be in love once more
Till then I won't give my love away (won't you love me)
(I'm goin' to love you) darling, I'm forever only yours ('cause I'll be yours)
Whoa whoa, say
And my lovin' works for you then
We've got nothing to lose
'Cause I'm forever only yours (someday maybe I'll be yours)
No need to complicate it
That smile is worth the wait, yeah
I'm forever only yours (someday maybe I'll be yours)
I said know, I'm forever only yours
I said know, I'm forever only yours
The song Someday by Michael Bublé is a classic love song about missed opportunities and longing for a lost love. In the first verse, the singer expresses his love for seeing his former partner happy, but also misses seeing her smile, as it has been a long time since they were together. He acknowledges that they are no longer together, but feels that he needs to find a way to win her back. Despite acknowledging that it is difficult to see her with someone else, he still feels that he can love her better than her current partner can.
The second verse is more nostalgic and reflects on their time together. The singer remembers a love song that they shared together, although he admits that he sang every word wrong. He misses his former partner, but will only pursue her if she feels the same way. He cannot help but feel jealous of her current partner, knowing that he can love her better than they can. However, the singer remains hopeful that someday they will be together again and in love once more.
Overall, Someday is a bittersweet love song that captures the feeling of missed opportunities and longing for a past love. Michael Bublé's smooth vocals bring a tenderness to the lyrics that evoke a sense of wistfulness for a love that could have been.
