Loaded Man
Michael Head Lyrics

Eternal deep
Where is the dark?
Is it light?
But can you see?
Do you think
Do you feel
Where you are
Or where you've been?
Loaded man, loaded man
Loaded man, loaded man
Golden heart
Hidden deep
By the disguise
That you wear
To deceive
I regret
Every day
What I done
Didn't do
What I'd say
Loaded man, loaded man
Loaded man, loaded man
If the wind
Changed its way
And blew you back
To the shore
Someday
Would you change?
Would it change?
Or would it all
Just be the same
Where we could say
Loaded man, loaded man
Loaded man, loaded man
loaded man, loaded man
loaded man, loaded man
Loaded man
The song "Loaded Man" by Michael Head & The Strands is a introspective track that ponders on the life choices and regrets of a person who may appear to be successful and wealthy, yet feels burdened by their self-inflicted pressures. The opening verse sets the scene of a sailing town that represents the vast unknown possibilities of life. The eternal deep represents the vastness of life's oceans and the potential for discovery and wonder. The singer questions whether the person has lost their way and can't discern the light from the dark.
The following verse delves deeper into the psyche of the "Loaded Man" and reveals that despite his wealth, he is hiding a golden heart underneath a false persona that is meant to deceive others. The singer admits to their own regrets and missed opportunities in life, and wonders if the Loaded Man will ever change even if the winds of fate blow him back to shore someday. The repetition of "Loaded Man" throughout the song highlights the heaviness and weight of the individual's burdens.
Overall, the song is a poignant reflection on the consequences of being consumed by material wealth and neglecting the importance of inner values and experiences. It conveys a sense of melancholy and regret that is relatable to anyone who has ever felt lost or overwhelmed.
