I Love You
Michael Kamen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces all day through
In that small cafe, the park across the way
The children's carousel,
The chestnut trees, the wishing well

I'll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way

I'll find you in the morning' sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you
I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new

I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Michael Kamen's song "I'll Be Seeing You" portray the singer's longing for a past love. The opening line, "I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places," suggests that the singer frequents places where they used to go with their loved one, and even these familiar locations bring back fond memories of their time together. The singer mentions a small café, a park, a children's carousel, chestnut trees, and a wishing well – all places where they likely shared many happy memories.

The next lines, "I'll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day, in everything that's light and gay," suggest that the singer is reminded of their love even in happy moments, and that their love is intertwined with their memories of these happy times. The singer notes that they will always think of their love "that way," implying that their memories of love will never fade.

In the final lines, the singer mentions finding their love in the morning sun and under the moon, even though they are physically separated. The repeating phrase "I'll be seeing you" at the end of each verse reinforces the idea that this love is ever-present in the singer's mind, even though they are apart.

Overall, the song expresses the bittersweet longing of a love that has ended, but one that remains a cherished memory in the heart of the singer.

@Thierry-B.

The original songs were composed by Queen.

And some original songs they were! This is always a fun film to revisit and enjoy every so often. Same with the TV show and Endgame. Ignore the rest (the sword-forging scene is also in the series, allowing you to pretend that all non-Endgame sequels never happened).
