This shows those in the past knew God loves us and had a plan for our life. So they worshiped. His mercy was so great that when we had sinned, HE did not leave us. Our sin earned us eternal death in the lake of fire. Father God allowed Jesus to come and plead guilty to our sin crimes. then when our death penalty was announced, HE died in our place. Then on the Third Day God the Holy Spirit raised Him from the dead. Because of the blessed Trinity we can go to heaven. THANK YOU, Blessed Trinity.

It's certainly not true that Jesus was tortured beyond what anyone has ever been tortured. In our own century there have been millions of various holocaust victims who were tortured just as much and more. The difference is that he was able to say, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." There's where the liberation is, for Jesus and for any of us if we have the honesty to forgive in that completely understanding way.

I'm 40. I started to lose my faith when my very religious mum got a nervous breakdown that was faith related. She worked in the church and at some point she ended up imagining she was talking to Jesus etc. while starring out and not sensing anybody. She had to go to the hospital for 3 months for psychiatric treatment before she started getting back to normal again. Religion is about manipulating our brain to imagine and believe in things that are not real. It goes for all religions.

My opinion is that Jesus Christ was a real person who promoted very good values in a time where people feared God and feared authorities in general. Jesus helped turn Christianity around from being "fear controlled" to be more "love motivated". In a way Jesus is the founder of our western civilisation and moral. Do I believe he did any special magic or that he was some manifestation of God? Actually I don't believe in that. The Bible is too flawed for me to believe in. But good he was.

Yeah, and Santa Claus on the North Pole is real also! If God exist then I'm very confident he would also agree with me that the Bible is not his book. That he never made laws on putting people to death for being a witch, homosexual or working on the sabbath etc. He would also tell me that he don't admire people begging him with selfish prayers. If God was real he would not be some human value based jerk as the one described in the Bible. Chances are 0% that a God is as the Bible says.

@sunflower46553 think about what you just said. This life is a proving ground. You become a light. A light is something that gives people clarity, hope, answers, truth. You can't compete in this life and so you hope Jesus comes soon to take you out. People are hurting and they are broken emotionally, financially, and spiritually and all you can tell them is to wait for the next life but in the meantime you do nothing.

You can't very well uphold Matthew 7:6 by not judging they are swine. And Jesus judged. Judged the pharisees to be false christians. Judged those in the temple selling goods as sinners and even overturning tables. You have to judge or you will never "keep yourself protected from sinners."

What Matthew 7:6 is saying is, Jesus does condemn a critical and judgmental spirit, one with a sense of moral superiority. He commanded us to examine ourselves first for the problems that we so easily see in others. It is when we examine ourselves that we can better see the problem and get help for our own problem first. But you have to discern (judge) good and evil.
