He amassed a substantial collection of self-produced recordings which caught the attention of Los Angeles based producer Charlton Pettus. Signing with Pettus’ indie label Town Records in 2008 led to the release of his self-titled CD, Michael Wainwright. Revolutionary illustrator and graphic artist Alan Aldridge (Elton John, The Beatles, Rolling Stones) agreed to design the cover. “Having Alan design my cover blew me away! The bands he worked with are inspirations to me. I performed at the Chochrane Theatre in London, England at the release of Alan's new book "Man With Kaleidoscope Eyes" which includes the designs for my cover, unbelievable! [as seen in Guitar and a Car Tour Day 21]. He’s a real rock and roll legend!”
From Michael’s first release came several notable music licenses: ”Can’t Believe My Eyes,” “Across The World” and “World To Bring Me Down” were featured in the film Moving McAllister; Spike TV’sBlue Mountain State aired the song “Last Goodbye”; NBC’s Las Vegas used “Across The World”; and EA Sports’ The Sims 2 translated Michael’s song to “Keebalork Ma Zibs,” which in Simlish means “Can’t Believe My Eyes.”
In 2009, he was offered the opportunity to perform as the opening act and background singer for Tears For Fears. “It’s been such an honour performing with them. I was always a fan theirs, singing with them is truly surreal."
From broken hearted to a reckless heartbreak, Michael Wainwright evolves with his second full-length album titled The Circus Is Coming To Town. “It’s an eclectic mix of melodic confessions.” It features the song “Heart-Shaped Man” written by Roland Orzabal. “It’s a song he wrote about my head. Catchy, yet self-deprecating.”
Last Goodbye

so what are you gonna do?
I know I've told you so many times
I don't know how I'll be without not thinkin' about you
when you think about the moment
when you think about the time
will you think about the last goodbye
This is the last time I'm ever gonna say goodbye
this door I'm walking through
I know I've changed my mind about a million times
I don't need you then I do
but you need a man not a boy who thinks he can
when you think about the moment
when you think about the time
will you think about the last goodbye
goodbye.
It's gonna be the last time
so I better say it loud
I don't know how I'll be without not thinking about you now
it's gotta be the last time so i better say it loud.
goodbye.
goodbye.
The lyrics of Michael Wainwright's song "Last Goodbye" are centered around a painful parting of ways between two lovers. The singer seems to have reached his breaking point and accepted that this will be the final time he says goodbye to his partner. He is aware that this decision will not be easy, but he believes it's what he needs to move forward. The opening line, "this is the last time I'm ever gonna say goodbye" sets the tone for the song and implies that the singer has said goodbye to this person multiple times before.
The chorus of the song asks the listener to consider what they will remember when they look back on this moment. The line "when you think about the moment, when you think about the time, will you think about the last goodbye?" suggests that the singer wants to make a lasting impression on his partner, so they will remember how he felt when they parted. The second verse shows that the singer has been through a lot of emotional turmoil, cannot decide if he needs his partner, and acknowledges the difference between being a man and a boy. The repeated "goodbye" at the end of the song is an assertion of his decision and an acknowledgment of his pain.
