He often changes influences and styles. Though most of his recordings are strictly vocals with acoustic guitar, the range of his musical spectrum is still evident. He claims to be the lost grandchild of Koko Taylor and Woody Guthrie, which is obviously not true, but it does speak of his musical background.
Wayne grew up with polarizing musical influences from his parents. His father, Johnnie Grace would often play music such as Bob Seger and Creedence Clearwater Revival. His mother, Laura would listen to artists such as The Tempations and Diana Ross, as well as contemporary 90's pop.
His first song was written at age 6. It was titled "The Bath Crusader," and was about as nonsensical as a six year old's song should be.
Today, his influences range anywhere from Wilco to Beck.

Drake
Hold on, hold on, fuck that Fuck that shit Hold on,
I got to start this mothafuckinโฒ record over again,
Wait a minute Fuck that shit Still on this mothafuckin' record Iโฒma
Play this mothafucka for y'all Ayy,
Y'all get some more drinks goinโฒ on,
Iโฒll sound a whole lot better Listen Seein' you got
Cause Iโฒm fallin' apart,
Yeah Tension Between us just like picket
Fences You got issues that I wonโฒt mention for now '
Cause we're fallinโฒ apart Passionate from miles away Passive with the
Things you say Passinโฒ up on my old ways I can't blame you, no,
No Passionate from miles away Passive with the things you say Passinโฒ
Up on my old ways I can't blame you, no,
No Listen Harder buildinโฒ trust from a distance
I think we should rule out commitment for now '
Cause weโฒre fallin' apart Leavin' Youโฒre just doing that to get even
Donโฒt pick up the pieces,
Just leave it for now They keep fallin' apart Passionate from miles
Away Passive with the things you say Passinโฒ up on my old ways I
Can't blame you, no,
No Passionate from miles away Passive with the things you say Passinโฒ
Up on my old ways I can't blame you, no,
No Um, trying to think of the right thing to say

The song "Passionfruit" by Michael Wayne is a reflection on a relationship that is falling apart. The lyrics suggest that the relationship is characterized by tension and issues that are left unspoken. The singer acknowledges that he is in the midst of a "ritualistic cleansing" of his soul from addiction, and he seems to be struggling to hold onto what is left of the relationship.
The lyrics convey a sense of resignation, as the singer suggests that it may be best to "rule out commitment for now" and simply let things fall apart. He warns his partner against trying to "pick up the pieces" and suggests that they should simply "leave it for now." Despite the breakup, the singer is still drawn to his partner, whom he describes as "passionate from miles away" and "passive with the things you say."
Overall, the song "Passionfruit" is a bittersweet meditation on the dissolution of a relationship. The lyrics capture the sadness and sense of loss that comes with the end of a love affair, while also hinting at the possibility of reconciliation and new beginnings.
