Ruthless records was splitting apart. Dre, convinced Eazy-E was withholding profit from the N.W.A sales, left the label and started Death Row Records with Suge Knight. Eazy-E refused to release Michel'le and Dr. Dre from their Ruthless Records contracts. Supposedly, Suge and Dre extorted Eazy with metal pipes and baseball bats and forced him to release Dr. Dre, Michel'le and The D.O.C. so he could sign them to Death Row.
Michel'le made occasional guest appearances, notably on the single "Let's Play House" with Tha Dogg Pound in 1996 on Death Row Records. Michel'le released her second and Death Row's fifteenth album called Hung Jury in 1998. Her sophomore effort did not come near the success of her first selling only 300,000 copies to date.
Following Dre's departure from Death Row, Michel'le broke up with Dre and began a new relationship with Suge Knight. Michel'le has a child with Dr. Dre, Marcel, and at least three kids with Suge Knight. It's unknown how many they have. They are currently married. Michel'le is still a part of the Death Row Roster. Her most recent music was a contribution to the Dysfunktional Family soundtrack in 2003. A trailer video for Michel'le's brand new single "Freedom To Love" can be seen on YouTube. The single "Freedom To Love" (listed as "Freedom Two Love" on Amazon.com MP3 downloads) was finally released in 2011. The song "Freedom To Love" charted, reaching #91 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Keep Watchin'
Michel'le Lyrics

You know I'll never understand men, no oh
How they play us girls for short, then they try to place the fault on you
This time I'm speaking candid, yeah ah
Cause I don't think that it's right for them to have their cake and eat it too, so...
(Chorus)
Keep watchin' (you know you got to keep watchin')
attracted than an ego, be original if you want me.
2nd Verse:
You know it's a bit too much to manage (yeah ah)
They think their God's gift to the world, have his choice of any girl he choose
To me, that's underhanded, when your man has yet to call & you know he's out there doggin' you.
Keep watchin' (you know you got to keep watchin')
And wanting, because it takes a little more for me to be
attracted than an ego, be original if you want me.
3rd Verse:
(No oh n-n-oh) No oh. He's not what you're thinkin'
When you feel you've had enough & you're ready to give up, just do.
Girl, you don't have to take it from a man, you're not a child
And if you don't want him, just speak the truth.
Keep watchin' (you know you got to keep watchin')
And wanting, because it takes a little more for me to be
attracted than an ego, be original if you want me.
I've told you time again, I can't deal your lies
How could you tell me this & look me in the eyes?
Everything you said to me was all in your disguise
And if you think that I believed you, you're in for a surprise!!!
(Do do do do do do)
BREAK
Keep watchin'
And wanting, it takes a little more for me to be
attracted than an ego, be original if you want me.
I've told you time again, I can't deal your lies
How could you tell me this & look me in the eyes?
Everything you said to me was all in your disguise
And if you think that I believed you, you're in for a surprise!!!
Yeah ah (yeah ah), oh ho (oh ho), Yeah ah (yeah ah), oh ho (oh ho)
Oh ho oh. You know I'll never understand men
No oh oh no no no no. No oh (no oh), oh oh (oh oh), no oh (oh oh).
Oh, oh, oh.
The song Keep Watchin' is a commentary on the behaviour of men towards women in relationships. Michel'le starts by sharing her frustrations with men who play games with women and then try to blame them for the relationship's breakdown. She expresses her concerns on how some men think they are entitled to have their cake and eat it too, without realising that their actions hurt the women they claim to love. In the chorus, Michel'le emphasises the need for men to be original if they want to attract her, rather than relying on their egos.
In the second verse, Michel'le continues to discuss how some men view themselves as God's gift to women and think they can have any woman they want, even when they are already in a relationship. She notes how their behaviour is underhanded, and how it hurts women who genuinely care for them. In the third verse, Michel'le encourages women not to tolerate bad behaviour from men and to speak the truth if they no longer want to be in a relationship.
The song is empowering for women, as it encourages them to stand up for themselves and demand better treatment from their partners. It highlights the importance of honesty and communication in relationships, rather than games and manipulation.
