The lyrics of "Attention ça tourne" by Michel Fugain & Le Big Bazar reflect on the transience of life and the constant changes that occur. The song uses various metaphors to convey this message. The phrase "Attention ça tourne" (Attention it turns) emphasizes the continuous rotation and movement of life, just like the seasons and songs. The line "tu crois que c'est vert, c'est rouge" (you think it's green, it's red) suggests that things may not always be as they seem, indicating the unpredictability and changes that can occur.
The lyrics then portray different scenarios to illustrate this theme. The mention of a child who could become a genius one day implies the potential for growth and transformation. However, the line "pas un passant aujourd'hui dans la rue ne l'a reconnu" (no one recognized him today in the street) indicates that even the most promising individuals can go unrecognized or forgotten over time.
The song also addresses romantic relationships, highlighting the fleeting nature of love. "Tiens, voilà qu'on s'aime, on croit que c'est pour la vie" (Look, here we are loving each other, believing it's for life) captures the initial excitement and belief in everlasting love. Yet, the following line, "mais ce n'est qu'un passeport pour une nuit et c'est fini" (but it's only a passport for one night and it's over), suggests that relationships can dissolve quickly, leaving behind only memories.
Despite the constant changes and uncertainties, the lyrics offer a sense of reassurance. "Attention ça tourne et tant que ça tourne, c'est pas inquiétant, on a le temps" (Attention it turns and as long as it turns, it's not worrying, we have time) implies that as long as life keeps moving forward, there is no need to worry. The line "mais le jour toujours se lève" (but the day always rises) suggests that no matter what happens, a new day will always come, bringing hope and new beginnings.
Overall, "Attention ça tourne" reminds us to embrace the ever-changing nature of life, to appreciate the present moment, and to find solace in the continuity that comes with each new day.
