The lyrics to Michel Fugain & Le Big Bazar's song Le printemps celebrate the arrival of spring and encourage people to embrace the season and all its joys. The first stanza encourages people to come out of their homes and enjoy the season, which brings love and happiness. The chorus repeats the phrase "Vive la vie et vive le vent" ("Long live life and long live the wind"), celebrating the beauty of life and the energy of the season. The verse "Dépêche-toi, dépêche-toi, ne perds pas de temps" ("Hurry up, don't waste time") urges listeners to make the most of the season and get to work planting, harvesting, and building. The mention of the hirondelle (swallow) and fauvette (warbler) serves as a reminder of the natural world around us and the miraculous signs of the season's arrival.
The second stanza continues the celebration of spring, highlighting the beauty it brings in the form of flowers and laughter. The phrase "plein de bonheur pour nous chauffer le cœur" ("plenty of happiness to warm our hearts") emphasizes the emotional impact of the season on our lives. The verse "Donne ta sève et donne ton sang pour faire un enfant" ("Give your sap and give your blood to make a child") is a reference to the natural process of procreation that is so prevalent in springtime. The final repetition of the chorus serves as a rallying cry to fully embrace the beauty of the season.
