After having worked with the group of Vigon, Lemons, he created the group King Set in 1966 with his friend and guitarist Alain Goldstein. Two radio successes make known his voice and his talent for the rhythm: an original composition, Apesanteur (Weightlessness), in 1967, and Jezebel in 1968. His solo career began slowly with a 45t at the end of 1968 under the name of Michel Kingset, the following in 1970 under his own name. He has to wait until 1974 to find a large audience with two simultaneous "tubes": Say to me and Super Nana.

The lyrics of Michel Jonasz’s song, Est-ce la paix qui passe dans l’espace, contemplate the possibility of peace passing through the universe. The song opens with a question, asking if this is something that can truly happen, or if it is already happening, but not yet visible to us. Jonasz poses the proposition that peace is a tangible, physical entity that can be transmitted through space and time. In the second stanza, the arrival of this peace is announced, and it is implied that it has already made contact with our world.
The following lines describe the desperate pleas of humanity, who are crying out for deliverance from their suffering. Jonasz alludes to his own fleeting mortality, insisting that he does not want to miss this momentous encounter with peace. He uses a clever metaphor to describe how he is poised to receive the message, hanging on to the antennae of a fly, celestial logger. He reinforces the idea that this peace is an intangible force in the universe that is being transmitted through radio waves. Jonasz seems to suggest that this moment of contact will be transformative, as people are able to share their stories and connect in a deeply meaningful way.
The chorus repeats the opening question three times, heightening the sense of anticipation for the arrival of peace. Jonasz captures the longing of humanity to experience a sense of security and harmony, which they hope will be transmitted through the vastness of space.
Overall, Est-ce la paix qui passe dans l’espace is a thought-provoking song that encourages us to contemplate the possibility of peace as a universal force. It conveys a sense of hope by suggesting that peace can be transmitted even across great distances and seemingly insurmountable barriers.

Du beau jazz orchestré classique... Un poème surréaliste et sentimental... Une belle perle, cette chanson.
