After having worked with the group of Vigon, Lemons, he created the group King Set in 1966 with his friend and guitarist Alain Goldstein. Two radio successes make known his voice and his talent for the rhythm: an original composition, Apesanteur (Weightlessness), in 1967, and Jezebel in 1968. His solo career began slowly with a 45t at the end of 1968 under the name of Michel Kingset, the following in 1970 under his own name. He has to wait until 1974 to find a large audience with two simultaneous "tubes": Say to me and Super Nana.

Maintenant que, moi aussi, j'ai perdu pour de vrai 'mon' Pierrot... J'écoute autrement ce morceau, un peu daté et chargé orchestralement peut-être, mais si plein de bonnes intentions ! Un de ces morceaux à reprendre et retravailler en live, ça aurait pu ou pourrait devenir une de ces 'haltes' indispensables, entre les Fourmis Rouges et les Vacances au Bord de la Mer, Super Nana et J'Veux Pas Qu' tu T'en Ailles...
Il y a ainsi une 'ancienne' chanson que j'adore depuis toujours et qui est plutôt méconnue, "Sur la Lune"... Elle n'est pas non plus 100% anodine, puisqu'elle a la 'redoutable charge' de clore le second album solo de Jonasz; "Changez Tout", en 1975 (Et oui, pour ceux qui l'ont vécu 'en direct live'; ça ne nous rajeunit pas vraiment !...), il y a 45 ans déjà. Mais bon; le répertoire de l'artiste regorge de perles, et je suppose que chacun a 'les siennes', celles qui les émeut plus que d'autres...
En tous cas, chapeau bas et révérence, l'Artiste ! Une magnifique carrière d'un demi-siècle, ponctuée en plus d'un 'second souffle' depuis quelques années déjà, après un petit 'coup de mou'. Avec l'âge qui avance, les sujets changent et les points de vue aussi, ainsi que les perceptions... Un titre comme "La Maison de Retraite" (une splendeur ! Genre 'Les fourmis rouges', la suite 40 ans plus tard...), Michel n'aurait pas pu l'écrire 'comme ça' il y a 20 ou 30 ans. Du moins je pense. En tous cas, merci Michel, pour toutes ces années de talent créatif et tous ces beaux souvenirs !
