1) Michael Kevin "Mick" Taylor (born 17 January 1949 in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire) is an English musician, best known as a former member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (1966–69) and The Rolling Stones (1969–74).
"He is regarded by many Stones aficionados as the best musician ever to play with the band, and appeared on some of their classic albums including Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Goat's Head Soup" (The Guardian article, Nov 2012).
"He was a very fluent, melodic player… and it gave me something to follow, to bang off," Mick Jagger said of Taylor, who left the band in 1974. "Some people think that's the best version of the band that existed." (Rolling Stone "100 Greatest Guitarists" article, Dec 2015)
Since resigning from the Rolling Stones in December 1974, Taylor has worked with numerous other artists (and, in 2012, with the Stones themselves) and released several solo albums. He was ranked 37th in Rolling Stone magazine's 2012 list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.

Leather Jacket
Mick Taylor Lyrics

Rock and roll circus, it's the best I've ever seen
All your leather jackets and your faded jeans
All you have left of your rock and roll dreams
Whoa, put your leather jacket on
Now it's time to be movin' on
She's late for her mornings, never wakes from her dreams
I gave her love and I gave her my money
I said, "No thanks, I can't get hooked on ya honey"
Put your leather jacket on
Now it's time to be movin' on
You think you're funky and you think your so tough
Sometimes you're disgusted 'cause you just can't get enough
Think your gonna go back to sunny California
Ride the waves on the cool blue water
Put your leather jacket on
Whoa, yeah, put your leather jacket on
All your leather jackets and your faded jeans
All you have left of your rock and roll dreams
Whoa, yeah, put your leather jacket on
And you move through your world as if it was a dance
You never keep your fortune that you made in the south of France
All your leather jackets and your faded jeans
All you have left of your rock and roll dreams
Put your leather jacket on
Now it's time to be movin' on
Whoa, yeah, put your leather jacket on
Now it's time to be movin' on
Whoa, yeah, put your leather jacket on
All your leather jackets and your faded jeans
All you have left of your rock and roll dreams
The song "Leather Jacket" by Mick Taylor is a rock and roll anthem that speaks of the nostalgic memories of rock and roll and the ways in which it influenced the culture of the 70s. The lyrics describe a couple that exemplifies the culture of the time - "the king and queen of the rock and roll circus" - with their leather jackets, faded jeans, and carefree attitude. The song is a moving depiction of a bygone era and the people who lived it.
The first verse describes the couple and their style while the second describes the complications of their relationship. The singer eventually rejects the advances of the woman, showing a sense of resilience in the face of temptation. The final verse speaks of the transience of good times and materials, creating a strong sense of nostalgia for the times of old. The repetition of the phrase "put your leather jacket on" signifies that it is time to move on, both literally and metaphorically from the past.
The song has a strong beat with a heavy guitar and deep vocals, creating a sense of nostalgia and anticipation. Overall, the song pays tribute to the rock and roll movement and the culture that it created, while also acknowledging its transience and the importance of moving forward.

Its a a fresh faced album and shows Mick”s young outlook at the time... I have had this album for years and years and always rated it ….sadly he never did another one as good, obviously some of the tracks relate to his input on the Stones album right before he left, they missed him and to be honest he missed them we missed them together more ...they were definitely the best rock and roll band at that time. Glad you made it through your dark times Mick .

Why can a song as good as this one, be rejected by The Rolling Stones in favor of some mediocre songs ? This song had all the elements to be a huge hit.
Mark Gillespie
The Stones. Could not have done as good a job on this as Mick Taylor did on his own

Because Mick Taylor was smart enough not to kick back some of his royalties to the Glimmer Twins. Look what they did to Bill Wyman's "Jumpin' Jack Flash".

You got that right buddy
