Home Again
Mickael Kiwanuka Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Home again
Home again
One day I know
I'll feel home again
Born again
Born again
One day I know
I'll feel strong again

I left my head
Many times I've been told
All this talk will make you old
So I close my eyes
Look behind
Moving on, moving on
So I close my eyes
Look behind
Moving on

Lost again
Lost again
One day I know
Our Paths will Cross again
Smile again
Smile again
One day I hope
To make you smile again
I won't hide

Many times I've been told
Speak your mind, just be bold
So I close my eyes
Look behind
Moving on, moving on
So I close my eyes
And the tears will clear
Then I feel no fear
Then I'd feel no way
My paths will remain straight

Home again
Home again
One day I know
I'll feel home again
Home again
Home again
One day I know
I'll feel strong again
I left my head

Many times I've been told
All this talk will make you old
So I close my eyes
Look behind
Moving on, moving on
So I close my eyes

Look behind
Moving on

Overall Meaning

Mickael Kiwanuka's song Home Again is a powerful and emotional piece that touches on themes of loss, reflection, and finding one's way back home. Through the repetition of the lines "Home again, home again" and "Born again, born again," Kiwanuka creates a sense of longing for a place or way of being that is familiar and comfortable. The lyrics suggest that the singer has lost their way and feels disconnected from themselves and others around them, but they remain hopeful that they will one day find their way back to a state of strength and happiness.

The lyrics also touch on the idea of moving on and letting go of the past, with lines like "So I close my eyes, look behind, moving on" and "And the tears will clear, then I feel no fear, then I'd feel no way, my paths will remain straight." This suggests that the singer is actively working towards finding their way back home and becoming comfortable with themselves and their life again. Overall, the song is a powerful reflection on the human condition and the struggle to find one's way home, both literally and figuratively.

@alan83p

Donald Glover's Atlanta brought me here. The peace distilled by Kiwa sets all around a chilled atmosphere we dont wanna leave.

Thank you Mr Kiwanuka.
Thank you Mr Glover.

Huge hug,
from Santiago del Estero, Argentina.

I remember I was really depressed during my 8th-9th grade years and I used to walk alone by the railroad tracks that lead me home. I listened to this song almost every day when I felt sad and was walking home. Whenever Michael would sing "so i'll close my eyes, look behind, moving on.." I actually closed my eyes and looked behind me and moved on. This song helped me forget about all the bad things that happened. Helped me move on from the past.

@sutejasuryakancana8537

Well glad you moving on, cause you'll never knew when the train coming when you're walking on the RAILROAD WHILE LISTENING TO MUSIC. :D

@dhaloh

@@sutejasuryakancana8537 haha no I don't do that. Walking on the railroad tracks. I walk by them on a path. Don't really understand why people walk on them and listen to music like they're chilling. Really not the best place.

@joecolclough3775

I love this song too, hope you're feeling better and you're in a good mental place right now, wish you well for the future
