He attended (at a vey young age) the famed Eastman School of Music in Rochester New York (he actually received a scholarship in cello there!) where he was born (Lou Gramm of Foreigner and Ersel Hickey, a friend of Mickeys are also from there).
He is a mulit-instrumentalist, his main instruments being electric guitar (in the Bo Didley fashion), bass and keyboards. He also plays saxaphone, harmonica (he has some really far out harmonicas) and tambourine. Actually, if it can make a musical sound, HE WILL PLAY IT.
I remember him filling up glasses of water to different heights so that he could get different notes out of them!
He has played with The Four Seasons, was Neil Sedaka's piano player for a while, played in the Chants and the BellNotes, among others.
His songs have been covered by The Music Explosion, Bobby Bloom, Bill Haley, Solomon Burke, the Purple Wizards, the Action (produced by George Martin) and Ronnie Spector, to name a few.
Many of Mickey's songs were co-written with his brother Bernie, a musician and songwriter in his own rite.
Mickey engineered in a number of studios and ended up as Kama Sutra's chief engineer around the time when the Critters and the Lemon Pipers (he edited and played on the album) were popular.
Mickey is thank G-d still musically active in the NYC area.

I got a song in my mind
I've been singing it all day
I'm gonna to teach it to you now
Come on and answer when I say
Hey! (Hey!)
When you hear me start a screaming
Listen, I ain't gonna quit
Gonna show you shapes and sizes
That I guarantee to fit
When you feel a warm vibration
Look out baby this is it
It goes a' hey sah-lo-ney mo-nee-ney mah-nee-neyo
I said a hey sah-lo-ney mo-nee-ney mah-nee-neyo
Everybody says and does it
Any place or any where
That's because it's nitty gritty
And it's got a lot of hair
Hey! (Hey!)
@thesoultwins72
Had an absolutely mint UK 45 release of this [Stateside SS456 - 1965] stolen. Managed to get another copy, but nowhere near as good condition.
@Keepingthefaith72
Glad you got another copy , You hear of so many people who have had their prized records stolen ....
@thesoultwins72
@@Keepingthefaith72 ....Thanks for that. We were still gutted - our original copy was pristine as I said. Glad to get another UK copy, but it was only 'Good/Very Good' condition to be honest.
We actually had 8 [quite rare] records stolen that day - Major Lance 'You don't want me know more' [orig 1967 Okeh demo], George Carrow 'Angel Baby' [orig 1967 Columbia white label], Lenis Guess 'Just Ask Me' [orig 1966 SPQR release], Travis Wammack 'Scratchy' [orig 1964 ARA release], Dalton Boys 'Somethings Bothering Me/I've Been Cheated' [1965 VIP white label], Bob Relf 'Blowing My Mind to Pieces' [1968 Trans-American release], Al Kent "The Way You Been Acting Lately" [orig 1967 Ric Tic release Voc/Instr].
We knew who stole them - but there was about six of them, so we couldn't do anything about it. We managed to replace some of the records, but not all. Heartbreaker. But like you say - many DJ's / collectors have suffered the same horrible fate. We were with one of our best mates, Ian Pereira [Pep] when he had pretty much his entire collection stolen at the Catacombs.

instablaster.
@derekm1791
You have the heart of a saint! If i knew who had stolen my priceless pressings... Man oh man... I hope you were able to replace the others as well!

@DS-_JOCK
What a great upbeat Northern track
@jeanetteomidvar8777
Brilliant. This would get me out of the grave.
@markmccummins8049
To my cousins across the pond: this is a great tune. As a small boy Daddy would tune in Mad Mike Metro (Metrovich) from Pittsburgh. This was one of his best tunes. Sadly both Metrovich and Lane are deceased, but the tune lives on. Such good memories.
@Keepingthefaith72
Hi Mark , There`s a big music scene over here in the UK thats been going since 1967 . And this has always been a popular play ... Always fills the dance floor ......
