Jeff Bridges
Midnight Choir Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Nothing's cookin' but the rain
The rain that's pouring down
I can tell you when the silence came
But now it's hanging to the ground
All slow motion and hazy here
Inside this room of mine
If the morning don't disappear
Faith will take me down the line

I wish I was Jeff Bridges
Moving down the highway
With the wind blowing through my hair

If you're getting tired of faking it
Why don't you do go fuck someone else?
If you're getting tired of losin' it
Don't ask me to come and help
I believe that we can all escape
I believe the light will shine

I wish I was Jeff Bridges
Moving down the highway
With the wind blowing through my hair

All I would ask of you
Remember me for what I've done
And not for what I didn't do
And not for what I didn't do

I wish I was Jeff Bridges
Moving down the highway
With the wind blowing through my hair

I wish I was Jeff Bridges
Moving down the highway

On a road that's taking me somewhere
Somewhere...

Overall Meaning

The song "Jeff Bridges" by Midnight Choir is about a person who is feeling lost and trapped in their own thoughts. The first stanza describes the feeling of being alone and trapped, with nothing but the rain to keep them company. They feel like time is moving slowly and they are stuck in a hazy, unclear state. However, the person holds onto their faith and believes that they will find their way out of this state.

The chorus expresses the desire to escape from this feeling of being trapped by imagining being Jeff Bridges, driving down the highway with the wind blowing through his hair. Jeff Bridges is a famous actor who is known for playing tough, rugged characters, so the person is imagining themselves as someone who is confident and free. The second stanza expresses frustration with people who are dishonest or fake, and the person is urging them to be true to themselves.

The song ends with the person asking to be remembered for what they have done and not for what they have not done. This line suggests that the person is feeling regretful or guilty about something in their past.

I've seen Midnight choir live in Drammen Teater a couple of years ago.....FANTASTIC..even better than on the record. Paal Flaata (vocal) is awesome... For those who would like to hear more from Midnight Choir, try to get the album "Amsterdam stranded". It don't get much better than that.....
