Midnight Pool Party started out with a “classic-disco” sound that quickly evolved into a more contemporary nu-disco/electro-house style. They continued to explore various genres within their songwriting while also experimenting with different vocal styles and techniques.
Without losing the true Midnight Pool Party essence, they continue to bring an infectious groove to everything they create using an assortment of lush-sounding synths, smooth thumping bass-lines, playful key-noodling and strong infectious vocal-hooks.
In 2017 they released their debut ep ‘Dalliance’ which received praise and attention from fans and music curators around the world – one of its tracks ‘With You’ was also placed in the STAN series “The Rook” which was a very exciting accomplishment for Oliver & Morilla.
Feeling inspired & motivated by all of this they began working on their next round of music which led them to their second ep MOTIONS, and it’s accompanying MOTIONS REMIXED ep featuring reworks from the likes of Dugong Jr, Anoraak, LEFTI, Charlie Crown and Bohkeh.
2020 was a year of exploration for Midnight Pool Party as they delved deeper into the process of trying out new ideas, styles, sounds and techniques, and they were really inspired by not feeling like they had to stay within any kind of boundaries.
The first example of this experimentation was a single called ‘Nonchalant’ which saw them drawing influence from the likes of Hayden James, Kaytranada and Disclosure, creating this unique blend of new age disco with heavy elements of pop, hip-hop and R&B.
They then closed out the year with BANG BANG which took their experimentation to a whole new level as they vibed-on artists such as Disclosure, Sofi Tukker and Duke Dumont to create this big future-house banger that also embraced some of their pop, hip-hop, rap and disco flavours.
In early 2021, Morilla & Oliver organised a little weekend trip away to work a on bunch of music ideas they’d been playing around with during isolation.
They came home from that weekend session with a tidy collection of exciting new songs and over the last few months they’ve given us a taste of those with CREAM, NO NAMES, POTENTIAL & TRUTH, and they’ve also made promise of a whole lot more new music coming our way in 2022!

To say how I feel
You know what I want
To know that is real
You're all that I want
And you stay on my mind
I know what you are
You're the flame to my fire
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
If you really want to
I find where you are
We could push it further
I don't care if I
If I come to your town
Will you ride my wave?
I am bringing all that know
I will be so brave
No I won't survive
If you leave my side
So much more to do
And it's all with you
Try to fix the vibe
Oh, believe that I
Wanna see us make
Happy homes to stay
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
No, this love don't feel like it once did before
The lyrics of "This Love" by Midnight Pool Party talk about the highs and lows of romance, and the struggle to make a relationship work when things don't feel the same as they did in the beginning. The singer is calling their loved one to express their feelings and make sure everything between them is real, highlighting how this person is constantly on their mind and the driving force behind their passion. However, despite their love for each other, there is a struggle to keep everything together and make things work. The catchy chorus repeats the phrase "No, this love don't feel like it once did before," emphasizing the changing and unpredictable nature of romance.
The song's verses explore the possibility of pushing their relationship further and building a life together, but it's clear that the singer feels dependent on their partner and doesn't think they can survive without them. The lyrics express a desire to fix the vibe and make happy homes to stay, but there is a sense of uncertainty and doubt that permeates throughout the song. In the end, "This Love" is a bittersweet reflection on the complexities of modern relationships and the challenges of making love last.
