Miguel Aceves Mejía, or "the King of the falsetto" as he was popularly known, was born in Ciudad Juárez in the state of Chihuahua. He became a popular Mexican film star during its golden age and was widely regarded for his interpretations of various Mexican musical folkloric genres, particularly the ranchera.
Originally part of a traveling theater company, Aceves Mejía began recording for the first time in 1938 with the trio Los Porteños. At the beginning of his career he interpreted mainly boleros, tangos, and Afro-Cuban rhythms. During his career he recorded more than 1000 songs on 90 discs and starred in over 60 films.
Among his greatest hits are La Barca de Guaymas, El Pastor, La del Rebozo Blanco, Se Me Hizo Fácil, Yo Tenía un Chorro de Voz, Vaya con Dios, La Malagueña Salerosa, El Jinete, El Crucifijo de Piedra and Cuatro Caminos. He was noted for composing such songs as El Pescado Nadador and O, Gran Dios, even though his forté was primarily as a singer in his own right.
In 1945 he began dedicating himself solely to singing and, following the deaths of Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete, ventured into the world of cinema.
In 1959 he appeared in Amor se dice cantando.
He died just a few days short of his 91st birthday on November 6, 2006 in Mexico City. As is tradition in Mexico, his body lay in state in the Palacio de las Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts) in Mexico City. This honour is reserved for only the greatest Mexican singers, writers, composers, sculptors and painters.
Tu y las nubes

Mi amor esta por los suelos,
Y tu tan alto y tan alto
Mirando mis desconsuelos
Sabiendo que soy un hombre
Que esta muy lejos del cielo
Ando volando bajo,
Y estoy clavado contigo
Teniendo tantos placeres,
Me gusta seguir tus pasos
Habiendo tantas mujeres
Tu y las nubes me traen muy loco
Tu y las nubes me van a matar;
Yo pa'rriba volteo muy poco
Tu pa'bajo no sabes mirar
Yo no naci pa'pobre
Tu y las nubes me van a matar;
Yo pa'rriba volteo muy poco
Tu pa'bajo no sabes mirar
The song "Tú y las Nubes" by Miguel Aceves Mejía is a heartfelt expression of love and longing, as the singer describes his emotional state as "volando bajo" or "flying low." He feels downcast and low because of the unrequited love he has for someone who is "tan alto" or high up, possibly referring to someone who is out of his reach. He is looking for comfort and solace in the clouds, represented by "nubes" in the title of the song, but this only drives him further into despair. Despite knowing that he is not worthy of this person, he cannot help but fall for them.
Throughout the song, the singer tries to convince the person he loves to give him a chance, saying that he is not meant to be poor and that they will have to love him eventually or he will die trying. He compares their relationship to an "arbol de la esperanza" or a tree of hope, saying that if they don't forget each other, they will be able to weather any storm. He acknowledges that he is willing to suffer and cry for them, indicating the depth of his feelings.
In conclusion, "Tú y las Nubes" is a melodious song that captures the pangs of unrequited love and the agony that comes with it. The song's lyrics are relatable to anyone who has experienced heartbreak or unreturned love. The metaphorical comparisons to the clouds and trees add depth and poignancy to the song.

Ando volando bajo,
I am feeling down,
Mi amor esta por los suelos,
My love is on the ground,
Y tu tan alto y tan alto
And you are up so high,
Mirando mis desconsuelos
Watching me in despair,
Sabiendo que soy un hombre
Knowing that I am a man,
Que esta muy lejos del cielo
Who is very far from reaching the sky,
Nomas porque no me quieres,
Just because you don't love me,
Y estoy clavado contigo
And I am stuck with you,
Teniendo tantos placeres,
Despite having many pleasures,
Me gusta seguir tus pasos
I like to follow your steps,
Habiendo tantas mujeres
Even though there are so many women,
Tu y las nubes me traen muy loco
You and the clouds are driving me crazy,
Tu y las nubes me van a matar;
You and the clouds are going to kill me;
Yo pa'rriba volteo muy poco
I don't look up very often,
Tu pa'bajo no sabes mirar
You don't know how to look downwards
Yo no naci pa'pobre
I wasn't born to be poor,
Me gusta todo lo bueno,
I like everything that is good,
Y tu tendras que quererme,
And you will have to love me,
O en la batalla me muero,
Or I will die in the battle,
Pero esa boquita tuya
But that little mouth of yours,
Me habra de decir "te quiero"
Will have to say "I love you"
Arbol de la esperanza
Tree of hope,
Que vives solo en el campo,
Living alone in the countryside,
Tu dice si no la olvido,
You tell me if I won't forget her,
O dime si no la aguanto
Or tell me if I won't be able to stand it,
Que al fin y al cabo mis ojos
Because in the end my eyes,
Se van a llenar de llanto
Will fill with tears.
