Lost Me
Mike. Lyrics

She cheated on me
And still I lost it all
I must have been crazy
When I took the fall
Cause if I had done things different
Then my heart wouldn't break at all
When it was her that cheated on me
As I sit here in my twilight years
Thinking hard on the years that's gone by
All the things that I've achieved could not compare
To the hurt and the many tears I've cried
And I've lived with decisions that I've made in the past
Although today I can see that I was wrong
I should have taken my children
And held them tight in my arms
And kicked that cheatin' woman out on her own
She cheated on me
And still I lost it all
I must have been crazy
When I took the fall
Cause if I had done things different
Then my heart wouldn't break at all
I lost what mattered when I lost my kids
When it was her that cheated on me
Oh when I walked away
Well I thought it was right
That they needed their mom more than me
How could I have known
They'd blame me all their life
That was something that I thought would never be
She cheated on me
And still I lost it all
I must have been crazy
When I took the fall
Cause if I had done things different
Then my heart wouldn't break at all
I lost what mattered when I lost my kids
When it was her that cheated on me
I lost it all that day so long ago
When it was her
That cheated on me
In Mike.'s song "Lost Me," the lyrics tell a heartfelt story of betrayal, regret, and the consequences of one's actions. The singer reveals that his partner cheated on him, causing him to lose everything that mattered to him. Despite this betrayal, he blames himself for taking the fall, believing that if he had made different choices, his heart wouldn't be broken.
The lyrics depict a introspective look back on the past, as the singer sits in their twilight years, contemplating the achievements and losses in their life. They realize that none of their achievements can compare to the pain and tears they have experienced due to the betrayal. Reflecting on the decisions made in the past, the singer acknowledges their wrong choices, particularly the decision to prioritize the cheating partner over their own children. The lyrics express a longing to have held onto their children and pushed the cheating partner out of their lives.
The song evokes a sense of regret and the profound impact of infidelity on not only the romantic relationship but also on the familial bonds. It highlights the emotional turmoil experienced by the singer, as they bear the weight of their choices and the consequences that they never anticipated.
