Speak
Mike Oldfield Lyrics

Speak, vision of the night,
Tell me why you haunt me so.
Speak, heaven morning light,
Whisper all my heart would know.
Dawn, ever finds you gone
Back to where the shadows dwell.
Speak, my beloved, speak,
Tho' you only say farewell.

When doubts and fears cause their tears that blind me,
Why be down if you've come to find me?
Speak to me and I'll follow,
Leaving all the wold behind me.
Can those eyes, calm and wise, deceive me?
While I still know the thrill of your
Mystic shade, dare fade and leave me,
Arms high and low.

Speak, vision of the night,
Tell me why you haunt me so.
Speak, heaven morning light,
Whisper all my heart would know.
Dawn, ever finds you gone
Back to where the shadows dwell.
Speak, my beloved, speak,
Tho' you only say farewell.

Speak! Speak!

They were so drunk when they did this!

Gastritis2000

@Raymon DIxon It's just a fun fact and may explain why this song is a bit over dramatic. Well, it's especially this over drama I like it for.

Raymon DIxon

@Gastritis2000 OK maybe but i don't see the relevance of being drunk as the singing is not bad in my opinion, it's probably the style of song and just having an old school type piano.
Mike oldfield is not known for singing not sure about David Bedford.
Thanks for the info anyhow, much appreciated.

Gastritis2000

@Raymon DIxon As far as I remember one of them admitted in an interview that both have been drunk. ;)

Raymon DIxon

@Gastritis2000 No I don't think they was drunk, they was just two good friends getting together and having a blast.

Gastritis2000

Well, it is great, maybe because of. ;)

So many memories! As a kid I listened over and over ‘Boxed’ a 4 record box set (with a vinyl size mag with photos and a story of his first years) , including TB, ommadawn, hergest ridge; and ‘collaborations’ with a few rarer songs and excerpts from other artists. This was my favorite, so strange!

I love this, it reminds me of my youth, i used to put it on the jukebox at the cafe we used to go to in our lunch hour , it was the b side to another oldfield record, can't remember what the a side was , anyway everybody used to cringe but i really liked it and i still do.

@Alex Mabon yes that's correct.

'Portsmouth' was the track I think...
