SOMEWHERE MY LOVE
Mike Sammes Singers Lyrics

Although the snow covers the hope of spring
Somewhere a hill blossoms in green and gold
And there are dreams all that your heart can hold
Someday we'll meet again my love
Someday whenever the spring breaks through
Warm as the wind, soft as the kiss of snow
Lara my own, think of me now and then
God speed my love till you are mine again
You'll come to me out of the long ago
Warm as the wind soft as the kiss of snow
Till then my sweet think of me now and then
God speed my love 'til you are mine again
The song "Somewhere My Love" is a melancholic tune sung by the Mike Sammes singers. It talks about a couple's separation, and how despite the harsh winter that hides the hope of spring, there are dreams their hearts can hold. The lyrics are a message of longing and hope, evoking images of a lover in a faraway land. The verse "Someday we'll meet again my love. Someday whenever the spring breaks through" expresses the hope of seeing the loved one again, and how spring, a time of renewal, symbolises that possibility. The song continues with the singer addressing their lover as Lara and recounting how they'll remember each other, and how they eagerly anticipate their reunion. The chorus repeats the line "You'll come to me out of the long ago, warm as the wind, soft as the kiss of snow," which suggests that the memory of the lover is evergreen in their heart.

I heard this on the radio this morning (The Mellow Show with Gary Ziepe) and I don't think I'd heard it since I was around 10! So many memories. I probably thought it was so naff back then, but it is absolutely beautiful!

I love to play this on my Hacker Gondolier record player. It has a huge 10x6" speaker and a naturally resonant case. The bass line of this track is exceptionally strong. It was the first track I played after resurrecting the Hacker.
