1.) Michael 'Mike' Scott (born 14 December 1958 in Edinburgh, Scotland) is the founding member, lead singer and chief songwriter of rock band The Waterboys. He has also produced two solo albums, Bring 'em All In and Still Burning. Scott is a vocalist, guitarist and pianist, and has played a large range of other instruments, including the bouzouki, drums, and hammond organ on his albums.
Scott was interested in music from an early age. At age twelve, after the family had moved to Ayr, he began a serious interest in learning guitar. The next year, Scott was playing in school bands and formed the band Karma, named after the tenet in Hinduism, with a friend named John Caldwell. Karma's sound was inspired by David Bowie, The Beatles and Bob Dylan.
Scott and a guitarist named Allan McConnell formed a band, The Bootlegs, which gave way to Another Pretty Face in 1978 when Caldwell and two other friends joined. The band achieved remarkable success with their first single "All the Boys Love Carrie"/"That's Not Enough" when New Musical Express named it "Single of the Week". The band signed a contract with Virgin Records, was featured on the cover of Sounds magazine, and toured with Stiff Little Fingers. Virgin, however, after receiving a demo tape from Another Pretty Face, released the band four months after the signing.
In 1980 through 1982 Scott, amongst other projects, began working with Sudden. Another Pretty Face continued to release music, and came to the attention of Nigel Grainge, founder of Ensign Records. Grainge signed Another Pretty Face to the label, and the band moved to London, changing its name to Funhouse (taken from the name of The Stooges' album Fun House). Scott had become dissatisfied with the band. He later described Funhouse's sound as "similar to a jumbo jet flying on one engine". Scott began working on solo songs and recordings, a decision that led to the creation of The Waterboys. A December 1981 session at Redshop Studios formed the beginnings of The Waterboys' first album, The Waterboys.
The Waterboys' membership has changed a great deal throughout the group's existence. Anthony Thistlethwaite, Karl Wallinger, Kevin Wilkinson and Steve Wickham all made major contributions, but Scott describes the band as his project. "[T]o me there's no difference between Mike Scott and the Waterboys; they both mean the same thing. They mean myself and whoever are my current travelling musical companions". The Waterboys' first release was a single of "A Girl Called Johnny" in March of 1983. The first album came out that June. Along with The Waterboys, the next two albums, A Pagan Place and This Is the Sea, released in 1984 and 1985, contained songs mostly written by Scott, and together formed the band's "Big Music" period. After the official addition of fiddler Steve Wickham and a move to Ireland, the next two albums Fisherman's Blues (1988) and Room to Roam (1990) were instead Irish music-inspired folk-rock, a sound similar to that of We Free Kings, a band that Scott and Wickham performed with in 1986. Scott's musical style changed again when he, under the name The Waterboys but without any other members, recorded a hard rock album, Dream Harder, in 1993. It was the last album to come out under the band's name until 2000. The band had dissolved over personnel issues and Wickham's desire to remain with a folk-rock, or purely folk music, sound. After two Mike Scott solo albums, A Rock in the Weary Land was released under The Waterboys name, demonstrating yet another musical style, which Scott called "Sonic rock". 2002's Universal Hall was a return to a folk-rock sound. It was followed by Karma to Burn, released in 2005, which was the groups' first official live album.
Solo albums:-
1997's Still Burning was the last Scott solo album before re-forming The Waterboys.
In addition to the albums he released with The Waterboys, Scott released two solo albums in the nineties. The first Bring 'em All In (1995), was recorded at the Findhorn Foundation in north Scotland, with Mike Scott playing all instruments himself. In contrast, for his second solo album, Still Burning (1997), Scott assembled a group of session musicians including Pino Palladino and Jim Keltner. Guesting on the album was former Icicle Works frontman Ian McNabb. Songs from the two albums appeared on 1998's compilation album The Whole Of The Moon: The Music Of Mike Scott And The Waterboys along with songs from The Waterboys.
Scott created his own record label Puck Records in 2003, which released The Waterboys' Universal Hall. In 2005, Karma to Burn was released, also by Puck Records, and included tracks from Scott's solo career played by the current The Waterboys line-up.

3.) (Listed as #6 above.) Nashville, TN (September 17, 2013) – Rural Rhythm recording artist Mike Scott has added several performance dates in Japan to his already busy schedule in 2013.
Recently, Scott and his band performed for a Civil War Antiques and Relics event in Pigeon Forge, TN in August in support of his new CD album “Home Sweet Home (Civil War Era Songs)” released on May 21st of this year. Plans are in the works for many more performances at key historic Civil War sites over the next two years, throughout the remainder of the 150th year anniversary of the American Civil War.
Scott is seen by millions of people each week performing in Ronnie Reno’s band The Reno Tradition on Reno’s Old Time Music show airing on RFD-TV Saturday nights at 7 pm eastern. Scott is also the host of the television series Behind The Dream TM which airs on BlueHighways TV.
And now Scott can add music ambassador to this year’s schedule of events, as well as, his previous international tours to Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, Africa, and numerous performance tours in Israel.
In 1979, 1981, and 1983 groups of Hendersonville, Tennessee area residents visited Tsuru, Japan as members of mission teams from Bluegrass Baptist Church. Tsuru families opened their homes to these American guests and friendships were formed. After an exchange of gifts and correspondence, the two mayors—Michimasa Takabe of Tsuru and T. W. Patterson of Hendersonville—proposed that a sister city relationship be formalized. A delegation from Tsuru visited Hendersonville and on May 18, 1983 the sister city affiliation became official. Both cities organized Tsuru-Hendersonville Friendship Committees to oversee and coordinate all ongoing activities and visits of adults and youth. Since 1983 official delegations from both cities including mayors, other government leaders, Friendship Committee leaders, host families, representatives of numerous civic groups, teachers, and other citizens have visited the other city on a mutually agreed-upon schedule.
The Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) has provided life-changing experiences for four of Hendersonville area students who visited Tsuru on exchange trips since 1998. JET enabled each of them to live and work in a culture other than their own, which in turn opened doors of opportunity for them upon their completion of the JET experience.
A delegation including 13 adults and 8 students representing four schools will go to Japan September 29 through October 7, 2013 with the primary purpose of being ambassadors for Hendersonville at the celebration of 30 years of friendship with Tsuru.
On Sunday, September 29, Scott and several other talented musicians including; Craig Duncan, Billy Smith, Marilyn Smith and Peggy Duncan from the Hendersonville, TN area will go to Japan and perform at a National Festival with the primary purpose of celebrating 30 years of friendship with Tsuru.
While in Japan Mike will be visiting with the media promoting his current Rural Rhythm titles including “Blue Moon Of Kentucky (A Tribute to Bill Monroe)” released January 11, 2011 and “Take Me Lord And Use Me” released on February 22, 2011.

He beckons those who have been in hiding or exile and calls for the lost and nameless, the unforgiven and unredeemed to join him. The song speaks of acceptance and inclusivity, with Scott seemingly telling everyone that he'll take them in.
The track's lyrics suggest that Scott is expanding the spiritual circle to include all beings, regardless of their history or background. The song is a universal call for acceptance, and forgiveness.
Overall, "Bring 'Em All In" is a musical offering that inspires a sense of togetherness, community, and open-heartedness. The song is powerful in both its message and delivery, with an infectious rhythm that invites listeners to sing along.

I was attending an Ayahuasca ceremony last week, and I had just found my way out of the darkness and was going through some troubled waters as I tried to find my way home again when I accidently heard this song, Bring ´em all in, playing for the first time in my life. It's a great song, and I love the performance, but the message of the lyrics was the most profound I have ever heard from a song that isn't a religious hymn.
This is a song whose lyrics are worthy of the words of Christ, and it is probably what he might say if he returned today to find us on the brink of a global nuclear war that would cause the total extinction of the entire human species.
During the ceremony, I suddenly sat straight up, gasping for air, as time seemed to stop. I looked at the shaman, who had stopped beating his drum and was standing looking out the window (one of the long sides of the room is covered in a big row of windows), when there suddenly was an intense bright light and I saw a huge fireball forming, but as it was about to reach us, it suddenly slowed down as it reached the windows and was left hanging in midair.
The air was trembling, and the silence that followed was deafening. Then I understood that I was being given a vision and a harsh warning about the immediate danger that we are currently in, as our news media is refusing to inform its people of it.
We are at a point where the decisions made by a few individuals who underestimate the ramifications of the consequences of a calculated risk, which they assume none of the leaders of the nuclear powers would start a thermonuclear war over when Armageddon suddenly erupts because a red line has been crossed in a way that then might force a nuclear doctrine to execute a predetermined action no one can stop,
Any future Ukraine F-16 taking off in the direction of Russia could be carrying a B-61 gravity Dial-a-Yield Nuke with a variable yield between 0.3 and 170 kilotons that's aimed at a decapitation strike to take out the Russian government, and the Russian doctrines will act accordingly.
It doesn't matter what side you are on because on this one, we all need to be on the same side, and we must all do what we can to get the message out right now. We have reached a stage where we have run out of time. The time to act is right now.

The raw power of this song is undiminished by the decades. It is tender and brutal and everything that life is.

I can really relate to this song. We had just done some laundry. Hung it all out to dry and then it started pissing down. We ended up having to bring em all in. Mike I am sure has been through this and captures it so well in this song.
