En Solitario
Mikel Erentxun Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

He pagado lo que debo
Ya se pueden cancelar
Mis deudas de don nadie
Mis palabras de vaivén

Carta blanca pasaporte
Y poco más que añadir
Sé que hasta hoy no he mirado
Ni una pizca por mí
A pesar de caminar en solitario
Siempre he andado por ti

No son nubes de verano
Tienen la velocidad de la sangre
Que circula por mis venas, es decir
De un estanque de un pantano
Es mi eterna indecisión

¡Bien! Cada cual pide aquello
Que es de su propiedad
Pero a mí, a mí quién me paga

Mi ración doble de soledad
(Y mi mal nombre)

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Mikel Erentxun's En Solitario ("Alone") speak of debts paid and debts written off, of words spoken but not meant, of promises made to nobody in particular. The singer has cleared the slate, but what now? He's left with carte blanche and a passport, and not much else. He confesses that up until now, he hasn't looked after himself much – he's been walking alone, but for whom? It's not like he hasn't seen his fair share of obstacles – these are not summer clouds, but rather clouds with the speed of blood running through his veins. His indecision is an eternal swamp, dragging him down.

It's clear that the singer is feeling lost and isolated, weighed down by his own inner turmoil, and it seems as though he's been living his life for someone else. He's looking for something, but he's not sure what that something is. Perhaps, in the end, what he wants most is to be paid for his double share of loneliness, and his "bad name".

Overall, the lyrics of En Solitario depict a protagonist who is searching for meaning and purpose in his life. The use of imagery, particularly the swamp and the blood, serve to add depth and additional layers of interpretation. The song is a haunting introspective ballad that speaks to the human desire for connection and understanding.
