The Los Angeles native began rapping at age 4 and immediately knew her destiny was to perform. Reminiscent of the late Left Eye, whom she admires, Jamila contributes her love of hip-hope to her music and sense of style, giving her a street edge with feminine appeal. "I've always loved old school groups like the Fat Boys oddly enough," Jamila shares, "The guy at the video store eneded up just giving me a copy of Krush Groove because it's my favorite movie of all time and I'd rent it every weekend." As one in a family of six, the animated youngster met Chris Stokes when she was just nine years old after her sister had appeared in an Immature video. She caught the producers' eye and he made her a member of his now defunct girl group, Dame Four. Hailing from a music family, Jamila's natural ability shines through, from her sense of style to her self-written rhymes. "I went to school for fashion, but singing and dancing are in my heart, that what I love and can't see myself doing anything else." Is also the sister of Jhené Aiko.
Her debut album, Split Personality"was shelved. Like many female acts in TUG, her career went no where due to poor support from the label. She was co-writer on the project, Mila J collaborated with Cory Bold, a seventeen year old phenom who adds icing to the already sweet cake.
Mila J poses a quadruple threat as she can sing, rap, dance, and write. Her first single off her shelved debut album was entitled Complete produced by Cory Bold. Her current status is unknown.

Glad that you showed me
Just what he was all about
Good lookin' out, little shorty
Guess she wasn't for me
Glad that I found all this out
See this what I'm talkin' about
'Cause we both play the game
Never gonna change, so all I gotta say is
Good lookin' out
I remember in the beginning boy I was so sure
I thought I found the one and my search was over
In your case I should of judged a book by its cover
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Somethin' told me from the get-go you was the wrong dude
What looks good ain't always the best for you
But I'm cool, I'm glad I'm seeing the real you
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Now see, I thought about it
I had to flip the script and think about you
Well there's no doubt about it, you know I can't deny it
I feel the same, too
Good lookin' out, little homie
Glad that you showed me
Just what he was all about (just what he was all about)
Good lookin' out little, shorty
Guess she wasn't for me
Glad that I found all this out (hey)
Good lookin' out (good lookin' out)
See this what I'm talkin' about
'Cause we both play the game
Never gonna change, all I gotta say is (ain't gonna change)
Good lookin' out
I know you ain't gon' sit here and try to play crazy
Like everything was my fault, girl, that's bologna
Don't point the finger at me, we both do wrong, see
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Maybe we both better off being just friends now
I guess it took all of this to figure this out
There was a big lesson learned and that is no doubt
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Now see I thought about it
I had to flip the script and think about you
And there's no doubt about it, you know I can't deny it
I feel the same, too
Good lookin' out, little homie
Glad that you showed me
Just what he was all about (just what he was all about)
Good lookin' out, little shorty
Guess she wasn't for me (I)
Glad that I found all this out
Good lookin' out
See this is what I'm talkin' about (yeah, yeah)
'Cause we both play the game (because we both play the game)
Never gonna change, all I gotta say is (never gonna change, no)
Good lookin' out
No girl, no girl, I'm cool
Ain't trippin' on you, ain't trippin' on you, ain't trippin' on you
Oh boy, oh boy, I'm cool, I'm cool on you, I'm cool on you (on you)
No girl, no girl, I'm cool (oh girl, oh girl, oh yeah)
Ain't trippin' on you, ain't trippin' on you, ain't trippin' on you (I ain't trippin' on you, no)
Oh boy, oh boy, I'm cool, I'm cool on you, I'm cool on you
Good lookin' out, little homie
Glad that you showed me (good lookin' out little homie)
Just what he was all about (about)
Good lookin' out, little shorty
Guess she wasn't for me (hey)
Glad that I found all this out
Good lookin' out (oh yeah, oh yeah)
See this is what I'm talkin' about
'Cause we both play the game
Ain't never gonna change, all I gotta say is
Good lookin' out
Ooh
Whoa-whoa
Show me (show me), just what you were all about
That's what you was all about
Good lookin' out
Good lookin' out, oh yeah
Oh, yeah-yeah
In Mila J's song "Good Lookin' Out," the singer expresses her gratitude towards two people. Firstly, she thanks her male friend who showed her the real character of her then-boyfriend, the "homie" she talks about in the song. The friend helped her see through the facade of her boyfriend's fake persona, and she realizes that she was never meant to be with him. Secondly, Mila thanks her girlfriend, who she refers to as "little shorty," for making it apparent that she wasn't suitable for her. Mila then goes on to acknowledge that both she and her ex-boyfriend were equally responsible for their failure, and that they were better suited as friends than lovers.
The lyrics of "Good Lookin' Out" reflect an important lesson that many people learn the hard way - that sometimes it takes an outsider to reveal the true nature of a person or a relationship. Among several interpretations that one can draw from the song, one of the most prominent ones is about the importance of being surrounded by honest and caring friends who will not hesitate to tell you the truth, even if it's not what you want to hear. The song's uplifting and positive vibe, coupled with Mila J's soothing vocals, provides an optimistic and empowering message to the listener about the importance of self-love and valuing honest relationships.
