The Duke
Miles Davis Lyrics

When I wake up yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you
When I go out yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles
To fall down at your door
When I'm working yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money comes in for the work I'll do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles
To fall down at your door

When I come home yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And if I grow old well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles
To fall down at your door

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles
To fall down at your door

I often wonder how Dave felt about this arrangement Gil did with Miles. If I were Dave, I would be sooo pleased! This is such a fine arrangement!

One of the greatest collaborations in jazz...Miles and Gil Evans. Both of them could get so much music out of just 2-3 notes.I think they made 6 albums together, including "Sketches Of Spain" and "Porgy And Bess".

I recently got the complete columbia album collection of miles davis. This album is the one i'm up to right now and i love this tune. Its a brubeck tune it turns out. I love the modulations and i love the way gil evans arranges.
