The duo finished their high school education at Jacob-Grimm Schule. Clemens played in a jazz quartet known as Flown Tones where he played bass guitar. Philipp was a DJ.
Their first single 'Stolen Dance' was released in 2012, topping the charts in countries including Austria, France, Hungary and Switzerland.
In 2013, they released their self-produced album 'Sadnecessary' that was well received, that included the tracks 'Stolen Dance' and 'Down by the River'. The album peaked at number 14 in Germany, and charted at 17 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The band released their second album 'Blossom' on 17 March 2017. Blossom was inspired by the experience Clemens and Philipp had in the last two years and the two different worlds they've jumped into: touring and being home in their private life with family and friends. Lead by the single 'Cocoon', the album also includes 'Bad Things' featuring Izzy Bizu.
In May 2019 the band announced they were producing their third album, which would be titled 'Mind the Moon', recording it at Ocean Sound Recordings in Ålesund, Norway. Three songs from the album, 'Daydreaming' (feat. Tash Sultana), 'The Game' and 'Fado' were released in the months leading up to the album release on 15 November 2019.

Eh-ah, eh-ah, oh
Eh-ah, eh-ah, eh-ah, eh-oh
Eh-ah, eh-ah, oh
I know that you must feel like facing with ruin, facing with ruin
I messed it up as always, I'm afraid of losing, I'm afraid of losing
I made you thinking oh, so wrong
And I don't know how to get along
With myself when I'm weakened, when I'm weakened
So let's go back to our cocoon
On the blackened afternoon
I see your heart is bleeding too
Let me bleed instead of you
So let's go back to our cocoon
On the blackened afternoon
I see your heart is bleeding too
Let me bleed instead of you, let me bleed, let me bleed
Eh-ah, eh-ah, let me bleed, let me bleed
Eh-ah, eh-ah, instead of you
I've been always playing
Solid as I'm waving, solid as I'm waving
So I became a liar, I've been underrating, overestimated
I made it really hard for you, hard for you to love me
But there's so many things we could do
And all we need is escaping, escaping
So let's go back to our cocoon
On the blackened afternoon
I see your heart is bleeding too
Let me bleed instead of you
So let's go back to our cocoon
On the blackened afternoon
I see your heart is bleeding too
Let me bleed instead of you, let me bleed, let me bleed
Eh-ah, eh-ah, let me bleed, let me bleed
Eh-ah, eh-ah, instead of you
Eh-ah, eh-ah, oh
Eh-ah, eh-ah
So let's go back to our cocoon
On the blackened afternoon
I see your heart is bleeding too
Let me bleed instead of you
So let's go back to our cocoon
On the blackened afternoon
I see your heart is bleeding too
Let me bleed instead of you, let me bleed, let me bleed
Let me bleed, let me bleed
Let me bleed, now I will bleed instead of you
The lyrics of Milky Chance's song "Cocoon" suggest being trapped in a dark, lonely place - a metaphorical cocoon - where one can feel safe and protected from the outside world. The singer acknowledges that he has made mistakes in his relationship ("I messed it up as always, I'm afraid of losing"), but he wants to create a safe space for him and his partner where they can be vulnerable and support each other ("Let me bleed instead of you"). The repetitive "eh-ah, eh-oh" sounds in the chorus create a hypnotic, cocoon-like atmosphere that adds to the song's message of finding comfort in isolation.
The reference to "the blackened afternoon" could suggest a time of day when the sun is setting, representing the end of something - possibly the end of the relationship or the end of a difficult period. The line "I made it really hard for you, hard for you to love me" suggests that the singer has been struggling with his own insecurities and doubts about the relationship, making it hard for his partner to fully express their love for him. However, the message of the song is ultimately hopeful, as the couple seeks to escape from their problems and find solace together in their cocoon.
