Millencolin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here we are again with another bunch of soft songs
maybe you are wondering why why it took us so long
with a schedule tight, studiotime in sight
we have mostly been out touring
inspiration has been hard this time and honestly
I've had some problems with all these rhymes

We're under stress again, but it has always been that way
and once we get it right, then I know it's there to stay
We're under stress again, but we're used to all that now
it's always tough at first but somehow we always end up fine

Third album, less of ska and not so many fast ones
more of poppy, pushy songs, those that we do best now
nine to five at Unisound in January '97
we had the greatest time, with Dan as engineer
now the outcome is what you hear

If you're lonely or if you're happy
feeling swell or feeling blue, we might have a tune for you

it's about half of an hour, maybe less or maybe more
whatever it might be it's still softcore

Overall Meaning

In “Puzzle” Millencolin talks about their struggle to find inspiration for songwriting, this time around. They explain that because of their busy touring schedule, they have been unable to find the time and energy necessary to write new songs. In addition to that, the band leadsinger has been facing problems writing rhymes. The lyrics suggest that even though the band is constantly under stress, they know that once they get through these difficult times, their music will withstand the test of time.

Despite their difficulties, Millencolin emphasizes their versatility in terms of the genres and emotions that they cover in their albums. “Puzzle” is proud to call themselves a “softcore” band and are able to cater to people’s emotions and changing moods with the music they release. Overall, “Puzzle” is a self-reflective look into Millencolin's songwriting process and how they deal with the difficulties that come with it.

Must be some kind of conspiracy
The whole world's a God damn conspiracy
Look anywhere long enough, you're gonna find a conspiracy
Man, LIFE is a conspiracy!

I decided to revisit the old stuff I used to listen to. This song brought me back to highschool. I’m 38 now. Don’t know why but it brought me to tears. Just reminds me of everything good when I was younger I guess. The world is a different place now and I want the old times back.
