Savior
Mimicat Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

He’s my savior
He’s my future
He’s my treasure
And I won’t let him go, wanna keep him forever more

Lost in a world of my own caring for nothing at all
Going out of my mind
No one would ever get in , my heart was closed darkening
Leaving myself behind
But then he same along one day out of the blue
He didn’t care for yesterday , so I let him through

He’s my savior
He’s my future
He’s my treasure
And I won’t let him go, wanna keep him forever more

Once this man came to me to tell me that I would be
Alone, a nobody ,a fool
Those words stuck in my head, tears all over my bed
I didn’t know what to do
But then he send despair away, he gave me truth
Love can take you out of that cave to reach the moon

He’s my savior
He’s my future

He’s my treasure
And I won’t let him go, wanna keep him forever more

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Mimicat's song “Savior” speak of a woman who was once lost in her own world, where she cared for nothing and no one could get in because her heart was closed and dark. However, one day, somebody came along who didn't care about the woman's past or who she used to be, and she allowed him in. He became her savior, her future, and her treasure, and now she never wants to let him go.

The lyrics show a profound realization by the singer that she was closing herself off from the world, and someone finally came along, broke down her walls, and showed her love. His mere presence transformed her outlook on life, and thus, she deemed him her savior. The woman felt lost and uncared for before she found her savior. She was afraid and overwhelmed to the point where she would often cry herself to sleep.

Although the song talks about how the singer found her savior, it's an anthem for anybody who's been broken-hearted and longing for their own savior. The lyrics offer hope that somebody may come into their lives and break down their walls, showing them the love and compassion they deserve.
