When she was 18, she moved to Nashville, where she was signed by BNA Records (a label of Sony BMG Music Entertainment). Her debut album, Ten Thousand Angels, was released on April 30, 1996, and was certified gold six months later. The album gave her international fame and produced her two biggest hits, βTen Thousand Angelsβ and βGuys Do It All The Timeβ. McCready also appears with Lorrie Morgan, Sara Evans, and Martina McBride on CMT's Girlβs Night Out special. Mindy then released the next year "If I Don't Stay The Night." It spawned 3 singles, "What If I Do", Other Side Of This Kiss", and "You'll Never Know." Overseas "O Romeo" was released. None were very successful. Still the album sold over 500,000 copies, and went Gold. In 1999 McCready released "I'm Not So Tough." The first single released was "All I Want Is Everything." When it failed to break the top 50, BNA Records and Mindy went separate ways, said to be over creative differences. After the split the album received little promotion and became a commercial failure.
In April of 2000, she was signed by Capitol Records. She released a self-titled album with Capitol in 2002 to disappointing sales, and was dropped by Capitol later that year.
McCready was once engaged to actor Dean Cain. In 2005 she appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and spoke of her problems with domestic abuse, depression, and drug abuse. Mindy McCready admitted her ex-boyfriend Billy McKnight had beat her frequently and they had a tumultuous relationship, and that she had tried to commit suicide. She also revealed that she had seen her ex-boyfriend Billy McKnight recently and that she needs help. Her father was on the show and said that she is often in denial about her problems and that he wanted her to get help and supported her. She also spoke of how growing up her mother wasn't very loving and encouraging and as a result McCready suffers from poor self-esteem. She is now known mostly for her trouble with the law. Talking to Oprah Winfrey, McCready hoped that her story would encourage and help others, even if it's only one girl in the world. "You know what we're all hoping?" Oprah said to Mindy. "That you are that girl."
Mindy gave birth to son Zander Ryan McCready on March 25, 2006. On April 9, 2012, McCready gave birth to her second child, a son named Zayne. The child's father, record producer David Wilson, was found dead in his home on January 13, 2013, of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Following Wilson's death, McCready released a statement in which she referred to him as her "soulmate" and "life partner". A little over a month later, on February 17, Mindy committed suicide by the same means.
The Other Side Of This Kiss

I've got a feeling we're getting into something more
You've been talking telling me your secrets
Baby, that's just a crack in the door
I want to know what's on the other side
Come on baby now don't be shy
I want to know what's on the other side
I want to read you baby, like a book
So close, to those eyes
I want to know what's on the other side
Of this kiss
I got a vision, you and me together
I got a vision, wants to turn into reality
Show me your heart, show me your emotions
Show me parts of you I can't see
I want to know what's on the other side
Come on baby now don't be shy
I want to know what's on the other side
Of this kiss, that look
I want to read you baby, like a book
So close, to those eyes
I want to know what's on the other side
Of this kiss
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I want to know what's on the other side
I want to know what's on the other side
Come on baby now don't be shy
I want to know what's on the other side
Of this kiss
(I want to know what's on the other side) Of this kiss
(I want to know what's on the other side) Of this kiss
(This kiss, that look) That look, those eyes
This kiss
In this song, Mindy McCready sings about a feeling she has that she and her partner are about to enter into something deeper than what they have already experienced in their relationship. She mentions that her partner has been sharing some secrets with her, but she wants to know more. She wants to know what's on the other side of the kiss and the look her partner is giving her. McCready wants to read her partner like a book and get to know everything there is to know about them. She sees a vision of them being together and wants to turn it into reality. She asks her partner to show her their heart, emotions, and parts of themselves that she cannot see. She wants to know everything about her partner, including the things that they may be hiding.
Overall, the song is about the vulnerability and openness that is required to truly connect with someone in a relationship. McCready is not afraid to express her desire to know everything about her partner and is willing to put in the effort to make their relationship deeper and more meaningful.

Wow! I love how she works that crowd while keeping focus on the camera. She knows she is the center of attention here and you can tell she's enjoying every moment of it. She is having a blast between dancing, flirting and working the camera. The big kiss and hug from Dean Cain wraps it up nicely.

I was home for college. I'd just came back to my dad's house from a run. I still had my headphones on listening to this song. I was singing my heart out as I was stretching after my run. (And, who wouldn't belt their heart out to this song?)
Anyway, I didn't know my dad came home, because I had the headphones on still. He walked in my room, and I stopped singing. I've always been shy about singing. He asked if that was me singing. I shyly said, "Yes." He simply replied, "Wow!"
I love my dad dearly. This will always be a favorite moment of mine. I've never shared it with anyone, but here I am 20 some odd years later feeling nostalgic.
