San Francisco coeds Minipop arrive on the scene with their debut record "A New Hope", making music that recalls the Cardigans' effortless pop perfected tunes. Vocalist Tricia Kanne's delicate voice soars over the keyboard laden arrangements and layered guitars creating a lush brand of dream pop. The gorgeous reverie of sound present on the album is highlighted with with a dichotomy of crashing choruses and honeyed vocal arrangements resulting in a remarkably rich collection of songs. Already having toured with the likes of Midlake, Tokyo Police Club and Stellastarr, Minipop exploded onto the Bay Area music scene in 2005 and quickly caught the attention of peers, fans, and critics alike. S.F. tastemaker and Live 105 music director Aaron Axelson named their single "Like I Do" one of his favorite singles featured on his "Soundcheck" program and a band to watch in 2007. "Like I Do" is one of the hottest tracks in the world right now... "

I wonder why, you walk away unharmed
you walk away unharmed
I wonder what you're thinking of
I want to give you someone to love
someone to love
You're the sun of the dark of the day
I wonder what you're dreaming of
I want to give you someone to love
someone to love
Feel the sun of the dark of the day
You're the sun of the dark of the day
Feel the sun of the dark of the day
You're the sun of the dark of the day
Feel the sun of the dark of the day
You're the sun of the dark of the day
Or night(?)
Or night(?)
Or night(?)
Or night(?)
Or night(?)
The lyrics of Minipop's song "Someone To Love" reflect on the feelings of unrequited love and longing. The singer wonders what goes on in the mind of the person they desire and why they manage to walk away unaffected even though the singer's heart yearns for them. The singer wants to offer this person a love that they deserve and desires to be the one who is cherished and loved by them. The phrases "Feel the sun of the dark of the day, You're the sun of the dark of the day" suggest that the person is a bright spot in the singer's life, a source of light amid the darkness. The repetition of the lines "I want to give you someone to love, someone to love" further emphasizes the singer's desire to be loved back and to help the object of their affection find love.
The song could be interpreted as an expression of unrequited love, a common theme in music. The lyrics suggest that sometimes, despite our desire to be loved, it is not reciprocated, and even when it is, we may not be the one the other person chooses to love. The repeated use of the phrase "someone to love" shows the importance of finding love in our lives and how we often feel incomplete without it.
